Are they proceedable, i.e. FTB, with finance arranged etc. or are they just dreamers in a chain? Does £94k give you enough equity to move on? How much margin did you build into the price, expecting to be knocked back? Is their offer conditional on you withdrawing house for sale?0

Ooh congratulations. This happened to me in 2002 and I held out for the full asking price because it had only been on the market for two hours!
Different market today though I suppose. My current property is going on the market tomorrow and I'm certainly not expecting it to happen again. Would be nice though. You must be well chuffed!0 -
We had this end of 2009, been on the market for 4 days :-) they offered £248k on a £250k asking price and we bit their hand off. It all went through beautifully, shame the house we were buying went south! We went through with the sale and ended up with my inlaws for 4 months...
Good luck with yours!0 -
It's a little lower than hubby wants to accept and we have no where to go as the house we wanted sold last week.....but what if we don't accept and it takes a long time to get another offer? ArghHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

If they're proceedable and serious, your husband is a clown turning them away for the sake of 5k.0

Unless they have said it's a final offer, they'll be expecting you to come back with a higher amount.
Do not accept the first offer. Say 'if they could just come up to £97k, we'll take it off the market and get the ball rolling asap'. Stress the fact that it's only just on the market and they're the first viewers.
Chances are, you'll settle on £95 or 96k.
It might not sound a lot in the scheme of things, but even just another £1k buys a whole lot of things for the next place/pays towards fees!
Good luck!

You're in no rush. So I'd be trying to increase the price, as HazyJo said, even 1k is better than nothing!0

Have a word with the EA and sound them out on pushing for more. Unfortuantely £1k is immaterial to the agent (even when on %tage) but why leave it on the table?0

As I initially said, it's more to do with psychology in that the buyers will be thinking 'should have offered lower' (and you can guarantee everyone they know will be saying the same thing). Even if they don't increase, and you do end up accepting it (not saying don't!), they will at least think you wanted more.
