How would you feel if someone was interested in you , but only cos they knew your financial backgroud and your financial safety. This is a scenario a friend faces.

Begs the question -WHO thinks they are only interested in your "friend's" financial aspects ? Sounds like it might be your friend might be seeing if differently to you.
Does your friend think it too (in which case presumably they are an adult and can decide on their own actions accordingly) .....or just you ?

I wouldn't consider that someone were interested in me, if their sole attraction to me was based on my financial background or how financially stable I appear to them now.
What people find attractive about others is a hugely diverse area. To me if you are interested in someone you take into account the whole person; their personality, morals, values, how they conduct themselves and lead their lives and their appearance. It is all about wanting to see how compatible you are and getting to know them slowly.
Having similar approaches to finances generally helps in a long term relationship. However to my mind that should never be the sole reason for being attracted to someone in the first place. That would be very shallow. The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. Are we talking gold diggers or I-can-fix-yous?

If I were 96 and she were a hot 20-something model then given that I'd be shuffling off the mortal coil in the not-too-distant future I probably wouldn't mind much.
But, in other cases, if their interest were exclusive to my financial status, thus going beyond the boundaries of the simple and understandable desire not to be lumbered with a penniless bum, then they'd be told to take a hike.0 -
Plenty of marriages are based on such a scenario.0

Not good ones in my opinion. It never fails to amaze me what some people will settle for.The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses.
