I don't lack empathy but it isn't relevant. There's no point trying to make me feel bad because someone else's dog ran off and wasn't chipped. I'm not responsible for that.

I don't doubt that it is utterly heartbreaking to lose your pet but it isn't directly relevant to what I posted here.

It took six months, by the way, because he didn;t trust me until that point. He would run away at the slightest noise or sudden movement, hiss and try to bite. I had to take the slow route so he would feel safe and not to risk him just running off somewhere else where he wasn't cared for.

Just because he acepted food and a lap didn;t mean he was relaxed or confortable enough to let me shove him in a box and take him to vet.

Besides which, he had been living down the road for years, so if he had been lost then he'd been lost a long time and an extra six months really doesn't make any difference.

  • I haven't read all the thread, read some of the first posts and a few of the end ones and I don't want to get involved with what has gone on in the past.

I will, however, say that I am glad to read the outcome and I am glad that he has a forever home with someone who does care about him. Good on you and I hope you all have plenty of happy memories together.

Skintchick, though I applaud you for taking in this stray how would you have felt if you had found, 6 months down the line that this little kitty had another owner elsewhere? More importantly, how heart broken would your daughter have been?

You were lucky in the fact that the cat was not 'owned' but you were even luckier that your daughter didn't have to lose her beloved pet, she'd have been heartbroken.

We had always talked to her about how he might have an owner and might need to go back to them. Yes she would have been upset but we explained to her and ultimately she would have learned something from the experience.

Skintchick, away off now and go and celebrate with your love ones! No need to be on here justifying yourself any longer. We all do what we think is right at the time blah de blah blah...I'd have acted ,in fact I have , the same as you. No doubt I'll be flamed for being selfish but I'll take that burden over.you have bigger fish to fry.

You have a. Life to lead:)

Well done Skintchick, you did get him scanned and that's what counts. I just want to say well done on giving Cobweb so much love and attention - he is one lucky puddy tat to have you and your family looking after him. You've done a really good thing there - more power to you. Hugs X.

Cobwed will have somewhere nice and warm and a loving home then for this winter and xmas and the rest to come. Good news.

I hate thinking about them stuck outside when it's cold.

Good luck with your new official puss.

My mums cat nicked off to 4 houses down, she got really upset and angry (understandably), but you just can't tell a cat where to live, they decide....part of their charm.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.
