P lease check for a microchip asap, somebody may still be pining for him even though he's been next door for years. Pick up some wormer for him as well, and then enjoy your newly extended family!

I thought I would update. I can;t believe it's been six months since I posted, but in that time Cobweb has got to trust us and he moved in!

At first he was wary of my OH and would just come in during the day for warming up and cuddles, then gradually he let me groom him and cut out all his mats. It took a week to get him to let me use scissors near his bottom but once he let me do that I knew he trusted me!

He then started coming in every day, then began to come in overnight too in September, which led to a few wees on the floor in the morning, but my Oh learned to get up quick in the morning and let him out!

Then a few weeks ago my Oh came hom with a cat flap, because when he wasn;t in the house Cobweb was sitting our garden waiting for us to let him in.

Now he has moved in! I never did speak to the lady down the road but I need to as I don't know if she ever vaccinated him, but other than needing to do that Cobweb has made his decision :)

I still can;t believe it has taken six months - it doesn;t feel that long - but I guess years of living outside make trusting quite hard.

He is the most gorgeous cat who is so cuddly - sometimes he just miaows at me till i pick him up for a cuddle!

And that is the other thing - he never purred or miaowed before but has started doing both recently, which I have taken as a very good sign.

So if anyone out there is wondering how to get a stray to move in I can offer some help and advice :)

oh I did worse than you would! I kidnapped my last cat! so if the lady who feeds it thinks its a stray .................and it wants to relocate to your house..........no brainer! and ask the kind lady to stop feeding it!
Its chosen you - Cats do. and if it answers to CAT!!! then that's its name! I wish you luck - but you wont need it as this cat is going to bless your lives!
  • What a lovely outcome . He sounds as if he's really happy now , well done . He's fallen on his paws !

oops - for some reason your last post didn't come up when I read the thread! lovely name 'Cobweb'!
Cats choose their owners (SLAVES/FAMILY), and Cobweb has chosen his.
    got a pic?

You might not be able to make anything out on this pic - he is black, with his eyes closed, there is a tiny bit of pink tongue sticking out though! His head is lying on my leg.

Not yet but I will when I take him to the vet. I need to speak to the lady down the road first and I'm scared she will be cross with me.

He is frightened of boxes so getting him to the vet will be fun!
