Sorry, but if the buyer doesn't say anything and waits for the NPB, it's too late to change it to a mutual. That's purely the buyers fault.

    ??????

I phoned them as soon as I saw what had happened and they said it was easier to do it that way, I was hardly bothered about it and agreed. I am not sure you can do a mutual on a buy it now.

This thread seems to be saying that anyone can ask for a refund of received goods and they will get their money back and keep the goods.

That means there are no threads from buyers saying it is unfair they have to return a faulty item and pay return postage before they get a refund.

How many sellers on here have genuinely ever been forced to refund a buyer AND let them keep the item?

If you have tell us the circumstances so we can all avoid that happening.

Never been forced to (in >10,000 transactions) although as has already been said, I have done so a few times and always where item was faulty and buyer sent a photo of the fault because there would be no point in a return.

I recently was a NPB, I had contacted the seller as I accidently bought the same item twice and they said the easiest thing to do was let the case run as an NPB one. I hardly think I deserved a neg, but that is what you are suggesting.

Well the seller wouldn't necessarily have negged you for that.

I don't have a neg on my record - seller was possibly right or at least not that wrong in the advice he gave me. I did put another sale his way from a friend very soon afterwards.

I'm talking about if a case is already open, which depending on settings can happen automatically.

I phoned the seller in business hours the next day but one after I did it, (I missed them the first day as they closed early) no problem to them at all. Like I said - maybe complicated by it being a buy it now.

There is no problem with a mutual on a BIN.

There is also no problem changing a NPB into a mutual (before it closes), although it is not something I would advocate doing regularly.

And going back to your comment about not being worried about strikes. 2 in a year and you are stopped from bidding on the vast majority of auctions/bins.
