Rewarding Scammers

Received this in email from a friend and it it seems she's not the only one.

"I am angry with eBay and am shutting my account. I sold a scarf and the buyer
didn't like it so wanted a refund but reported me for making out the material
was different to what he expected. So eBay refunded him which is fine but THEY
ARE LETTING HIM KEEP IT OUT OF 'ONE TIME COURTESY ALLOWANCE'!!!!
I might as well have given him £20 in total or the scarf+£10
cheque+free P&P!!!"

There is a lot wrong with Ebay but while people continue to use them to buy and sell nothing will change.

I had a buyer once claim an item was not as described - they offered me a much, much lower price. I refused and offered a full refund which was given immediately I received my (now damaged) item back. They still left negative feedback.

Totally agree, I must have sold 100,000 plus items and nothing close to that has ever happened to me.

If it's any consolation, they will only get a few no-fault refunds like that and then their buying will be restricted \ eventually shut down.

ebay decided some time ago that they would side with the buyer.
it's allowed many scammers to prey on the decent sellers dishonestly IMHO, that doesn't mean all sellers were entirely innocent in the 1st place, but the skew is entirely changed on the last few years.

I've bought & sold for over 13 years with a near 2000 positive, but almost all the persons that I have had problems with have been buyers rather than sellers, all negatives I have received in that time I feel have been unfair and ebays policies just maintains that unfairness.

I've had the same -buyers stating absolute !!!! in their 'feedback' usually as a result of not getting their demands in PMs to me (free postage when not offered for heavy items, ending the item now when demanded etc).
Complained to ebay with cut n paste of the PM and ebay just ignore it.

OK it's damn difficult to have a balance, but ebay allowing only buyers to leave negatives really doesn't help.

Ebays pet spokesperson will be along shortly to shoot down my opinion and anyone elses which doesn't suit them very soon I can assure you, they've done it before, they'll do it again.
Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.
If you don't like my opinion feel free to respond with your own.

Do you know of any other websites or places that allow sellers to negatively rate their buyers, never heard of it anywhere or seen the point in it?

I don't know of many other websites where you can buy something, and then ask for your money back - and keep it.

There are a lot. Loads of companies do that to keep customers happy. You won't find one major internet seller that hasn't done it.

    And he did.
I wouldn't like to let you down. I'd forgotten that holding a different view based on my own experience wasn't allowed.

This thread seems to be saying that anyone can ask for a refund of received goods and they will get their money back and keep the goods.

That means there are no threads from buyers saying it is unfair they have to return a faulty item and pay return postage before they get a refund.

How many sellers on here have genuinely ever been forced to refund a buyer AND let them keep the item?

If you have tell us the circumstances so we can all avoid that happening.
