my bf went to go get one today after being told they will have some more in around 9.30.
when he got to luton he was told they only had 2 come in and they went in minutes. he phoned the dunstable store straight away as they were not opening until later
the manager said they only had a few arrive and offered to put one of hold for him (the only XL) and when my bf arrived at 11 he said there was around 5 left all medium sizes.

Report it to ASA.org.uk - they'll get a slapped wrist for not running the promotion properly at least. It's not a real punishment, but a public shaming in front of their peers, really, but worth doing.

Private Eye once ran a story about a competition in the Daily Express in which readers could win an XBox.

It turned out that Richard Desmond's son won it.

I'm not sure that would even be legal...

Most competitions, for reasons of fairness and transparency do not allow anyone involved in the companies, or their immediate family to enter.

The ASA will slap them with a wet fish and ask them not to do it again.

I also commented on the HUKD thread. My boyfriend was up early and ready to get his t-shirt..basically the counter assistant told then there was four delivered to the Argyle Street, Glasgow store but somehow they didn't have any (?)..He was there for store opening and there was another three guys there, all left empty-handed.

So he headed to the Sauchiehall Street store; five had been delivered and all were gone.

Nine for the whole of Glasgow City Centre is a bit ridiculous, surely. Seemed to be a similar story all over the country. Some WH Smith branches didn't get any!

Happy to complain to the ASA too....

PS: Nice reference to "The Young Ones", chrissec ;)

I posted this on HUKD a moment ago:

"Good news! My boyfriend got a reply from The Express and they expressed (ha) disappointment about how few t-shirts made it into WH Smith stores. Apparently the retailer can get in touch with a contact number to get their hands on more items, if need be.

Anyway, the outcome of this is that they are offering him a t-shirt by contacting them directly with his address. So, all's well that ends well! :)"

(Assuming the t-shirt appears, of course) :D
