Any chances of bank accounts without proof of address went out of the window with the advent of international drug dealing and terrorism. This is of course not to say that anyone who lives without a fixed address (out of choice or out of necessity) is a criminal.

You have to make a decision whether you want to live within the social framework to which our business framework is geared up to. If you choose to opt out of that social framework, you might have to find alternative business networks - - such as cash under the mattress (if that's not too conventional for you) instead of a bank account.

Basically, you cannot have your cake and eat it.

I've never heard of accounts like you describe.

The Coventry one appears to have unlimited withdrawals or deposits.
The only limit that I can see is a maximum balance of 250K

As for the address ID, he/she could get a tax coding or benefits letter sent to your address?

Even those kind of accounts are limited to receiving between £1,000 - £1,500 per year, and if you exceed the amounts, you account is suspended until you can provide proof of identity and address.
This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com

Speaking your mind does not include giving idiotic advice that harms whoever takes it, which is what your advice tends to be.

Hang on a second. Why does someone of NFA need to pay in cheques? Where will they be coming from? Benefits are all paid by BACS these days, and a Post Office Card Account can accept them with very little in the way of proof of address. Not to mention, benefits letters ARE proof of address.

I can only think of one reason someone who can't/won't prove their address would NEED to have an account that takes cheques, and it isn't positive.

And what is wrong with a vehicle for taxation?

Well we are digressing slightly but i do think it has some relevance.

If a person is born in the UK he is presumably a free citizen of this fair land. As such he must surely be free to live his way of life as he chooses as long as it is broadly within the law and he isnt unduly troubling anyone else.

This doesnt mean he is a down and out/doesnt want to earn his own living.

He may choose to live in a van/caravan/ghert or even wild camp somewhere just as others choose to live in fixed constructions called houses.

Is my mythical person to be denied everything just because he doesnt want to live in a fixed dwelling?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

This mythical person should NOT be able to reap the benefits of this tax paying land (which are paid by the tax payer) if they do NOT pay the taxations required themselves.

Not necessarily. But if you're intending to live outside of the system in some respects, you can't really complain if you can't pick and choose which bits of that system you wish to avail yourself of.

You can live in a bivouac made of sticks in the woods if you like. But the water company doesn't have to come and plumb it into the mains supply.

C_Mababejive, I'll try again in slightly different words: if your mythical person wants to partake in things open to those people who don't choose to live without address, they have a choice: get an address.

If they don't want to get an address, they can't partake in things that need an address.

Can we stop this debate here? Please.

What system? By virtue of being born in the UK am i not afforded some natural rights? Why do i have to live in a system? If i work i pay income tax,if i drive a vehicle i pay road tax. I just might not want to live in a house. No one is talking about not paying tax although i would say that as a free person, you should have the right not to. No,im simply talking about the right not to live in a fixed dwelling.
