housing benefit reduction. a solution but the council is blocking it!

Why is nannytone being attacked? Have a go at the government, she is claiming what she is entitled to. Anyone overweight can get help to use gym etc if you contact your doctor. I can get reduced rate as my weight is affecting my health.
I give up with all this attacking. Nannytone got a new property, so she was entitled to it.

(Assuming nannytone does receive the payment) it's called a postcode lottery. I, in Wales, wait far longer for appointments with medical consultants than people in England. My response is not to demand that they wait longer.
And direct payments are earmarked for specific purposes agreed by the local council.0 -

nannytone does not just claim her 'entitlement' though, she pushes it so far that others suffer as a result. Add to that her ungrateful and smug attitude, people might feel more than a little begrudging of everything she receives.0 -

Just to add that Glaswejen was talking about help to prepare and eat food. DLA is supposed to cover that. But of course DLA often doesn't cover the full extra costs associated with disability.
If normal benefits don't cover food and heating, then, call for them to be raised. I'd support that.0 -

I see that now you've pointed it out, my apologies for not reading it properly, but my comments still stand though, some people DO have to CHOOSE between wether or not to eat or to heat their home. But anyhow, that's a whole other topic!0 -

Nanny got the property because she bypassed the system which protects those in housing need. A system she now defends, having shafted those in more urgent housing need, and with a far greater "entitlement", for the sake of saving £14 a week! She is fully aware that her actions may have disadvantaged a homeless household, but seems hell bent on justifying that. I'd expect that justification to be challenged... wouldn't you?0 -
Oh will u give it a rest about nanny's gym membership. She's been awarded DLA, if she chooses to spend that on a gym membership that's her business.
Personally I could think of better things, but it's not my award. It's her's, and her's to do with what she chooses.
I think you are missing the point.
The OP is moaning about having to pay for a spare bedroom, yet she can afford gym membership. Not what most people on benefits can afford.0 -

You seem to have missed Nanny's last post where she says that she now has this paid for by her direct payments.0 -
The whole point in direct payments is to pay for care!0
