Hyacinth Bucket recommends a nice wide brimmed salmon pink hat or failing that, whatever was acceptable at Ascot Ladies' Day this past year.
Actually, one of the houses I've viewed I've nicknamed the Hyacinth Bucket house. I want a second viewing so will follow your haute couture advice.0 -
I thought it a bit odd when I had a first viewer who turned on every tap and checked every kitchen cupboard (I had lots). She didn't offer so obviously didn't like it, but it can't have been the water or cupboards that put her off so I personally found it a bit rude and intrusive. If you like the place and want to offer, that's different.

Just had a flashback of a viewer we had, who also insisted on looking in every cupboard. When she opened the cupboard with various bottles of booze, mixers etc. (husband going through a Tom Cruise 'Cocktail' period, mixing multicoloured nightmares for all our friends at any given opportunity) the viewer said 'My! You do seem to keep rather a lot of alcohol in your house, don't you?'
I could have sank through the floorboards. Terrible.0 -

I moved in and went to put the plates away, they did not fit into cupboards, the cupboards were that narrow. I went to out the cutlery away, the draw would not open and close! I had to store dinner plates (the other sizes were fine) and cutlery on the worktops and purchase a floor type saucepan stand. I do have a new kitchen now but had to be like that for years!
AGREE - also suggest you do check things out top to bottom. BUT - not if you don't actually like the bloomin' house/want to offer. That's just rude. Unless of course you do love the house/want to offer, then you open a cupboard and find something in it (or not in it!) that's a dealbreaker.Just had a flashback of a viewer we had, who also insisted on looking in every cupboard. I favour a dressing gown and sandals.
