do you expect to meet the vendors . surely the agent will be taking the viewing. I am completing on a house this week .I have never met the vendors . Judging by the state off the house I dont want to meet them ."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0

Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. We've been viewing houses in a jeans/t-shirt combo for the most part.0

I spend a lot of time on cruise holiday forums, where dress code threads are always hotly debated.
So I think it should be treated as a formal night, with bow ties and dinner jackets for men and evening gowns or cocktail dresses for women.Early retired - 18th December 2014
If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough0 -
I thought it a bit odd when I had a first viewer who turned on every tap and checked every kitchen cupboard (I had lots). She didn't offer so obviously didn't like it, but it can't have been the water or cupboards that put her off so I personally found it a bit rude and intrusive. If you like the place and want to offer, that's different.

I actually strongly suggest you do this (not the taps but look in a kitchen cupboard - ask first) When I brought my house it didn't even cross my mind to check this. I moved in and went to put the plates away, they did not fit into cupboards, the cupboards were that narrow. I went to out the cutlery away, the draw would not open and close! I had to store dinner plates (the other sizes were fine) and cutlery on the worktops and purchase a floor type saucepan stand. I do have a new kitchen now but had to be like that for years!0 -
OH would be wanting to poke at wiring and look in lofts etc
Or perhaps protect your smarter kit with those disposable plastic coveralls, they're about thee quid from the likes of screwfix - or 1.99 if you buy ten (if you think you'll be doing that many viewings).0 -
Always sports casual...0

When I worked for high end developers the viewers dressed in Armani and driving BMW's were skint with bad credit scores.
The ones dressed like tramps had all the money and often paid in cash......
Never judge a book by looking at the cover.0 -
I think it couldn't matter less. When OH and I were viewing houses, we wore whatever we happened to be wearing.
Chances are quite high you won't meet a vendor anyway, just the EA....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
