TT are fine ... as long as everything goes OK and you never have any issues. Should you need any customer service however, then be prepared for pain! TT haven't won the ISP wooden spoon award 3 years running for nothing. ;)

If you DO need customer service then the TT member forums is probably the only place you'll get it without pulling out ALL your hair - just half of it.

If I were you, I'd steer well clear of TT... Things were brilliant when I first signed up with them a couple of years ago, then they called to ask if I wanted to resign for another 12 months. I made it quite clear that I didn't want to do it as I like to shop around and was thinking of moving to BT for faster speeds. This was 2 months before my contract was actually up for renewal.

Fast forward 2 months and I choose to go with BT because of speeds and the likelihood of having a more reliable service. I called TT to inform them that I was changing and they told me that I would have to 'buy' myself out of the contract that I'd signed with 2 months prior!

After a very heated discussion with someone who couldn't understand a word I was saying and vice versa, I was put on hold whilst they listened to the previous call with me saying 'I wanted to stay with them for another year'... After about 5 minutes of holding the line, they hung up on me.

I've heard nothing since and am now happily with BT... For now :o

    Hello,

Not been on this site for a while but just want to ask some questions.

On 22.04.2013 I signed up with TalkTalk for (Phone, tv and Broadband) and I go live on 07.05.2013 however I am having mixed reactions already.

Do TalkTalk sent router's out on time before the live date? if so when did you recieve it? I am worried as I rang up today and its not been dispatched as of yet. :(

I really don't want a deley getting the router as I need internet for Jobseeking.

Also is it true that I get the Youview box 3 days after I go live?

Also is TalkTalk worth the money? I never been with them so Don't know but reason why I joined them is for the free youview box

Any help of these questions will be great, thank you.

    Regards
    Shaun

How can it be 'very good service' if you're not being connected until next Tuesday? All they've done so far is send you a router via post to the correct address.
Mind you, for TT that's probably quite an achievement.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • I've just switched over from BT to Talktalk to save money, and to say the switch over has been a shambles would be an understatement.

My router never arrived, so I rang them to ask where it was as the tracking number from Royal Mail said it had been delivered; I was told it would be sent out with the TVviewbox I ordered, that never arrived either(couriers were UKmail) and the tracking number on that one also said I'd recieved it, and also signed for it! I emailed UKmail after getting no answer on the phone, and they never replied to that, so did a bit more digging on their site to find they'd sent it to the wrong address.
I then contcted talktalk who suggested I go round and get it(!) which I refused to do as the people had not only accepted the TVviewbox, but had also signed for it in my name!
On top of that I paid for value line rental(VLR), ie pay 12 months line rental in advance and its' only £9.95 instead of £14.95, and although I got an email reciept thanking me for paying for VLR, all that happened is that my account was credited with the amount, and the line rental was still £14.95.
I used their forums to try and speak to them, and it takes days to get a response.
My live date was the 18th April, still no router and TVviewbox, I've now rung the number to cancel it, but surprise surprise the router and TVviewbox were being sent out the day I rang them(Friday) but I don't hold out much hope.

    Hi there,

Sorry to hear that but so far I have never had a problem with talktalk, my router arrived as stated above so I can plug it in tonight ready for my live date tomorrow, that's if everything goes smothly without getting deleyed on the internet and I would be so happy.

Just waiting for my youview box to be sent out now :)

I've never had a problem with TT and I've been with them a couple of years now. They got their high level technical support (which I think was in the UK) to call me when I couldn't get my laptop to connect to the internet and sorted it over the phone. I must be in the minority of people who are happy with them.
