Anytime you buy a tyre online it is fitted by somebody else, just that Blackcircles or Mytyres have gone to the extra expense of sourcing the fitters for you, you have still bought the tyre online.

    .

    Didn't say anything different chap.

The point was simply that you have the hassle of finding someone who will do it so if you save £40 buying them and it costs you £10 a corner to have them fitted then you have saved nothing.

The big boys have arrangements made for you and sometimes, you pay more but it is cheaper overall. Anyone using Camskill needs to remember that.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

fivetide - i think the response was in reply to me. I agree with you - if it's all in one transaction and there's a problem then you have some accountability. Turn up at a backstreet paying cash with a boot full of tyres you bought off camskill then it's a different story.

Looking back you are probably right. In essence, I agree with everything you say there.

Used Camskill a few times myself but fitting has always been an issue and on occasion wiped out any savings. Plus, by doing it all in one deal, you get a bit more cover if the tyre fails for some reason. You don't get different parties blaming each other.

bigjl's recommendation for cheap tyres was a good one but for the uninitiated, it is worth pointing out the pitfalls I think.

I always shop around online whenever I need new tyres but I'm yet to find one supplier to be consistently cheaper than any other. As such I've used ATS, Blackcircles (twice), and National the last 4 times either I or my wife needed tyres.

I went into my local National branch and was quoted £180 for 2 tyres. I then went onto Tyreshopper and ordered the same 2 tyres for £109 and went to the same branch to have them fitted from stock off the shelf.

With National Tyres, you should always factor in the time and trouble of having to go back to get things put right or having to go elsewhere to do so.

If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)

You are spot on fivetide, it can be a minefield for those who have little contact will small local tyre shops.

And I would expect places like National or Kwik Fit would certainly refuse to fit tyres supplied by Camskill.

I know some folk on the forum have used Oponeo with no issues but that is a step too far for me.

And, yes, I was replying to Horizon but I can understand the confusion created.

I had to use national tyres on my 5 series last week after buying online from tyre shopper UK.
I got the tyres much cheaper than national could have supplied them but considering mine was the only car in the fitting bay, taking over one hour forty five minutes to change four tyres is, in my view, excessive.

They even refused to fit them at one point. I found national Tye's very unhelpful, very slow and due to filling them all to 28psi instead of 40/36, somewhat useless.

Never again, even if the tyres are cheap will I return to national tyres.

    Runflats?

Another place I have used is bestbuytyres who use local fitters.

I have used Camskill, Oponeo and the Tyremen on several occasions for our cars and never had an issue with fitting tyres- there is a local branch of Malvern tyres who have always fitted my tyres and done my winter/summer changes for me for years - they only charge £5 a corner for fitting and balancing.

The Vredesteins (summer and winter) I like to use and winters for our Caravelle, are not always available from Malvern themselves, and they have no issue if I get them from Camskill or elsewhere. I do price them up with Malvern after checking online prices and if they have available stock they always price match anyway, in which case I buy them from them instead.

Agree that a fault in a tyre may present an issue, but in nearly 40 years of driving, I have yet to come across a faulty brand new tyre, so will take my chances!
