I was under the impression that most (if not all) psychometric tests were bogus anyway.

Our company introduced personality profiles - I only completed mine because I was assured the info would be aggregated and anonymised. To then be given a copy of mine at a conference to introduce the rationale behind them and invited to discuss it in supervision/appraisal with my line manager.
I promptly threw my toys out of the pram (I don't like being lied to), and when the MD in his introduction said that his had changed in the 20 years since he'd last done one and invited speculation as to why, my response was "because they're not worth the paper they're written on?"
Needless to say I'm not in line for promotion any time soon.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Is this the one that gives you the 4-letter code at the end? Last time I did that one the conclusion said that most psychopaths share mine.
Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.

Think of penguins or we'll withdraw your benefits.

This is a good analogy. It takes little time to complete the test, as it does to think of penguins(!), so no great hardship to do it? If someone is not capable, either due to poor literacy or IT skills, or a lack of internet access, this would be a good opportunity for them to seek assistance with their limitations - something the JCP can help with.

Bogus by whose definition? (My computer's on strike and won't open the link so I don't have the details.).
It sounds pretty bogus to me:
When they complete the official online questionnaire, they are assigned a set of five positive "strengths" including "love of learning" and "curiosity" and "originality".

However, those taking the supposed psychological survey have found that by clicking on the same answer repeatedly, users will get the same set of personality results as those entering a completely opposite set of answers
The test is based on some bogus motivational interview pseudoscience. Basically the results of the test aren't intended to matter, it's the act of doing the test itself that is supposed to "nudge" people into making changes to their outlook and behaviour.

It's not just an online test that people are being asked to do:

The "Jobseeker's Direction" from the local Jobcentre Plus letter advised "Maggie" that she must complete a set of tasks or else face "sanction" – the loss of her benefits.

The letter told Maggie that she must research 15 companies, identify and write about their ethos and how it best fit her skills; register with three employment agencies and apply for jobs through them; complete a 48-question psychometric test online – all in the space of about three days before a set appointment at which she had to report on what she had done and the results.

I'm computer literate and do not think that I could achieve all this in less than 3 days.

So yet more money being wasted! Why do a test like this, where you put in different answers and get the same result!! Spend the money on helping people get back into work. But they won't, of course

Something that's been happening for many a year.

Literacy tests were introduced for all new claims in 2003. I assume they or something similar continued after I left the DWP.

Better off in DT as no one needs help with benefits.
