Does the little led on the bottom go ORANGE or GREEN?
Orange is charging, Green is charged, nowt is no charge.

    OK our posts crossed.
If it is green then it is charged. Try pressing the N button at the bottom of the screen rather than the power button on the back.

The light at the bottom was green when it was connected to the charger. Now it is disconnected there is no light, which I presume is correct??

Have tried the n button as well as the power button, but it seems totally lifeless - so bl@@dy disappointing:mad:

I even bought a special Nook charger for it:(

Yes with the charger disconnected it shouldn't show anything.
    What is on screen?
You could also try the reset which is hold the back power for about 20sec.

The screen is exactly as it was when unpacked from the box.

Have tried holding the power switch on for 20 secs, but nothing happens.

Could somebody please tell me what should happen when it is fully charged up and you switch the power on??? I would love to know what is supposed to take place.:(

I actually purchased it back in May, but kept it until now for my OH's birthday. Surely it shouldn't have deteriorated in the box!

OK will do that and see what tomorrow brings forth;)

Have just spent about 15 mins having an online chat with a "NOOK Expert" who got me to try various troubleshooting things, none of which worked and most of which had already been suggested on here!

Left it charging all night and still won't work - totally lifeless:mad:

I have phoned JL and arranged to return it to them, but they don't have any more in stock, so will have to be refunded.

This has really put me off Nooks and I am now thinking that I should have bought a Kindle in the first place.

Would the Nook power adapter work on a Kindle, or will I just have to ditch it?

Downloaded the lotr and hobbit kindle books from amazon the other day and can't get the hobbit one onto my nook.

I have calibre and it converted the lotr ones okay but couldn't do the hobbit. I looked at the format and it was AZW. I tried converting it with a number of options but no luck.

    Anyone got any ideas/suggestions please?
