Can you give more info? Do you use Netflix or BBCi or something to watch TV?

I would say yes get broadband because it will be much quicker than what I assume is 3G that you're using now.

You'd only need broadband if the speeds you get when tethering are too slow for you or if it will cost you more in the long run if you exceed your download limit when tethering.

  • What are you actually going to be using the internet for? You say you watch TV on a computer monitor but what are you actually watching? It will help us to help you if we know more info!

Also how much data does your phone contract include at the moment?

PS Yes Netflix is very good! But it depends what you want to watch, it has my taste in TV/film but might not have yours.

I am currently with the three network. we may also like to go abroad so i dont really want to get tied into anything if can . thanks if you can help. kind regards

If you find the speeds fast enough with Three, and you aren't being charged a lot, you might as well stay with them if it's reliable.

Otherwise, if performance is poor or you pay a lot more than you would for broadband, then it would be worth switching.

If performance on Three is poor or expensive and you need mobile access, then get both.

Obviously if you're moving abroad it might be a good idea to avoid long contract periods.

O2 have a deal on ADSL broadband at the moment:

    It's something like £17.50 a month with a 12-month contract,
Less £5 a month discount for being an O2 mobile customer (so £12.50/mo)
Half price for a year (so £6.25/mo)
    + £100 cashback + £100 M&S voucher (see quidco.com)
    So a total of £6.25 x 12 = £75 less £100 voucher & £100 cashback equals:
They pay you £125 for the year.

That's worth taking even if you move abroad!
