My week went SO out the window at the end!!!!

End up going out with someone from work for dinner and drinks (£15.75) which meant I got in to late to make lunch for today and had nothing simple in, so ended up buying lunch today (£5.47)....

On top of that I had to pick up a bunch of stationary for my new course (I forgot how much stuff you needed) and that added up....

All in all I spent (I think) £47.91 - a wooping £27.91 over budget :( I did put £24 of change into the bank though!!! So only £3.91 of that is an 'issue' (though I would have preferred to use that money on my CC!!)

This was my second week of doing this - and it has made me realise how easy it is to just 'spend' money willy nilly. Next week = a lot more leaving the debit card at home to reduce risks!! I have all I need for my college course now so there shouldn't be any issues.....

Got to the end of my week's spending and got £5.46 remaining out of my £80. Will reduce my £80 to £50 next week though so that will be a new challenge. Gave my daughter £70 out of the months food budget to keep her bus passes and social life going-- she only seems to stay with me 1 or 2 nights a week now so I am hardly feeding her. Hence I'm reducing spending budget to £50 per week for the rest of the month.

Friday spend: £1 for bag of liquorice allsorts out of the Charity sweetie box at work

Today (Sat) just under £5 at my local fruit and veg shop: Bread, new potatoes, a whopping size fresh cauliflower for £1 (that will last me a few days) and some plain chocolate coated ginger and brazils that they sell out of those old fashioned sweetie jars for so much a 1/4 -- I got an impressive amount for £1.50. I do like that shop!!

Fun doing this-- because it is good to see what I have left at the end of the week. Felt important that I came out of the shop with some change.

Spending nowt now and looking forwards to my romantic meal deal tonight :-)

Putting any surplus money I have left over into a little fund to give to my son as he is moving out from living with his Dad into his very first flat with his girlfriend this month..... quite exciting that! Having said that I am receiving a nice little gift of £100 from Nat West at the end of the month for remaining a loyal mortgage customer on their fixed rate interest --- so will I give that money as a gift to my son and his girlfriend to wish them a happy life. And that sorts out that!

    Evening all. :)

I have now crunched the numbers. Worst to best:

    - Bought enough food for making lunch, only made lunch twice. Didn't go out in the end, but spent £20.27 eating out. Boo!

    - Groceries: this does include spending for a dinner party I'm giving tomorrow, but even so, it's over budget: £30.13

    - Bits and bobs: early holiday spending £20.43 I need a category for this kind of spending

    - Hairdresser: smarter spending resulted in spending less than I was planning so £40 rather than 70-80 I was expecting.

    - Train: £17.15 from Manchester to London. Can't say fairer than that! :D

Total: £127.98/£200 Not bad, but it could have been much better!

Thank you once again for this: I think I'm beginning to understand the point of the spending challenges. It's to force you to be honest about what you're doing with your money. :)

    Onto next thread!

    Sorry for posting late....quick update.

Ended up not going out on Friday night so saved the £40 I had budgeted for that :D

I ended up buying a few bits and pieces for taking to friend's houses for lunch / coffee - cheaper than eating out but not really included in the budget for last week. Also, my budget included £20 for guy to change my locks and he hasn't appeared yet....so although I'm green, I'm still a bit over-budget IYSWIM.....

I'm slightly disappointed to say that I failed on my first week :( It was the hairdressers I'd forgotten about that did me! Plus the extra glass of wine I had on my night out, which cost me a huge £5.50!! Anyway, I ended the week on £55.56

I won't join this weeks challenge because I have a weekend away with friends, a birthday meal with my best friend and a nephews birthday...hmm could get messy..... I'll be back next week though, being good :A

    Have a good week all
