British Airways rip off!!

I don't like BA. But that aside... many western airlines are stingy with drinks (not just alcoholic ones). I found KLM to be one of the worst, they wouldn't give me more than one cup of water at a time, so I kept having to use the call button. They stopped coming to me in the end even though I was feeling faint.
Singapore airlines have a drinking water dispenser near the galleys and both they and Thai leave drinks out in the galley for you to help yourself.0 -

I've seen EasyJet do it too. The senior crew member said that until everyone put down their books and newspapers they wouldn't start the safety demo. Even if you've heard it a hundred times it's still disrespectful to ignore someone when they are talking to you.0 -

Agreed, not just disrespectful it's a case of it being so fixed in your brain you'd do the correct things automatically. I was on a helicopter underwater escape course many years ago and the point they made was we can only add to your chances by 1%, but it might just make the difference for you.0 -
Crikey, people making sweeping statements that they can't possibly back up. I travel mainly transatlantic and BA are virtually the same price and anyone else. And I can fly with them a lot of the time to TFS cheaper than with either Monarch or Ryanair when all factors are added in.(My experience of BA is that they are no better than the other standard airlines, but usually are more expensive.)The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -

I find BA to very competitive on transatlantic and European routes and I'd even fly with them if they were a few pounds more expensive as, for one, I do like their service especially compared to US carriers.
Their problem is, however, on routes "east of Suez" where they are unable to compete with the Middle Eastern and Asian carriers both in terms of price and service. I've just been looking at prices for Bangkok later in the year and even as a BA loyalist (I'm a Silver Card holder) I find their fares of over £800 unjustifiable compared to the likes of Emirates, Ethiad or Thai which are up to £300 cheaper. That price difference pays for a lot of Singha beer in Thailand.0
