I'm going to try the bacon, mushroom & ale casserole along with the Guiness, ginger and Spelt bread.
Just got to pop to the farm shop for some carrots as will need those for tomorrow's dinner as well.

I've been reading her blog for a few months now. She is a very inspirational young lady. I first came to know about her from an article in the Telegraph.

It makes you wonder, i know a lot of people are struggling but how many of those people would be in less trouble if they read Jacks blog instead of going to McD several times a week.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Although I could eat the food she cooks... my problem comes with needing to buy saucepans (they're on my To Do list) and the amount of boiling she does - clothes are drying 6' from the stove so will smell of whatever's cooked. Also, no freezer, no sunny windowsill to be growing the stuff she's got on a windowsill - and the cost of buying those items adds quite a bit to the price.
So, it'd work if you had the equipment, didn't live in one room, had a windowsill, were already growing things on your window sill and had a freezer. Oh and I see she has a blender too....0 -

Today I've had a baguette filled with cheese/tomato ... twice. Yesterday I had a baguette filled with cheese/tomato ... twice.
I love veggies, but they really stink when boiled/simmered or done in the microwave.0 -
Why is she called "Jack"? Time was that was a bloke's name. "Jackie" was the shortened version of Jacqueline.
I find life so confusing now.
From the Telegraph article:
'she changed her name by deed poll from Melissa – "M Monroe is a bit of a handle" she laughed ruefully – to her nickname Jack, short for Jack of all Trades.'0 -
I've been following her blog and Twitter for a few months. I was so pleased for her when she got her job on the local paper and now she's got a book deal too.
She is very inspirational and her recipes sound delicious.0
