Where did you find them please? My mum has been looking for Brains faggots for ages and we haven't been able to find any. I thought maybe they had stopped making them after BSE.

Our local Tesco's has them, as does Waitrose and my local Co-op which is where I found them on offer last month!

We all love faggots! I love them even more now that I can cook them in the microwave. Also I add some boiling water at the end of the cooking time to make double the quantity of yummy, thick gravy.

    Lush.:lol

Being a black country girl I have to say I LOVE FAGGOTS, but not keen on the brains ones though. The ones the local butcher makes are fantastic. Put in a bowl, pour over gravy and heat in the oven. Dribbling now.

My butcher makes faggots - but they do not taste like Mr Brain's.

So does my local butcher. And they don't taste like Mr Brain's either. That is because they just contain just meat, herbs & spices, not liver, onions and the contents of a small chemical laboratory. And they're the size of a cricket ball, not a golf ball. I don't know why they call them Brains, either: it's the only thing that isn't in them.

I just braise them in some gravy (just the granules - I use the veg' gravy as it isn't so overpowering - and water), maybe with a sliced onion thrown in, if I've got one. Serve with mashed potatoes and mushy peas. A meal fit for a king.
