Didn't you just love the Greens member trotting out the tired old myth that somehow all buses and hospitals would have ground to halt without the super skillful immigrant, that somehow millions of jobless Brits are incapable of doing / be forced to do (by benefit removal) such roles.0

They appear from afar to be the party of the moment.
The Greens got 15% in the euro elections in 1989 (and were back to 3% at the subsequent election).
UKIP have hit 16% in the last 2 Euro elections.
I'm sure they can easily go past 20% and possibly 25% at the 2014 and probably be close to being the biggest party.US housing: it's not a bubble - Moneyweek Dec 12, 20050 -

The Greens appear to have lost their way totally.0 -

How about we get the "jobless" to operate on you rather than all these pesky immigrant Doctors.
Roughly 30% of NHS Doctors and 40% of NHS nurses were born abroad.
I'm guessing it will take more than a few benefit changes to change those figures.US housing: it's not a bubble - Moneyweek Dec 12, 20050 -

The camerman/video editor certainly thought so.

Yu'p any nation without all this immigrant help has gone down the pan. I mean you simply cannot get treatment or a bus in Japan, and no doubt all the veg rots in the ground unpicked.
Britain was dire before all the immigrants came to rescue us, nothing ever got done before. I recall 2003 well. Thank God we were rescued in the nick of time.
And for the record stealing much needed medical talent from poor developing nations is not something we should be proud of. Typical of greedy entitled Brits to deprive developing nations of much needed nursing skill.0 -

Were there no doctors in the UK pre 1970?0 -

The discussion is already racist. That's what the discussion is in effect.
It's just as racist to suggest others are better workers, or we need other races because the british are idle.
You cannot get around the racist issue if you are going to talk about the UK attracting criminals.
Important to note though, that it's not the race that's being talked about. It's the criminal aspect of the individuals.
It would be unfortunate to have a debate whereby one side said all immigration is good, but no down side was allowed to be spoken about as it's inherently racist in every scenario to do so.
I don't think theres anything particularly racist at looking at the figures of how many Romanians are in the UK and how many Romanians are arrested due to crimes. That's just looking at facts.0 -
