Question Time Last night

Anyone watch Question Time last night and notice how Natalie Bennett (Greens) seemed to be completely dillusional and Luciana Berger (Labour) was very weak and fluffy - nothing really solid in her arguments.
I sometimes wonder how these sorts of politicians would have survived in the politicis of the 80s/90s with the real heavyweights.
Once again we saw Nigel Farage in his element ripping the EU to shreds. Think UKIP are going to have a storming local election

I think they might get the most votes in the Euros. If they've got any sense they won't field too many candidates in the locals and will save their firepower til 2014.
They appear from afar to be the party of the moment.0 -

I thought the green's was slightly mad in her opening tirade.
Thought the conservative guy was making things up, sound bites without conviction. Just too many we will sort it out comments for everything.
Didn't really hear the Labour woman, I was in and out on another discussion with SWMBO, but nothing struck me.
Farage seemed to have more weight but I thought some of his stuff seemed old ground but I guess that is were they stir up the feelings.
The Lib Dem chap sat on the fence as usual claiming all sorts."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

I didn't watch it but just skimmed a few minutes. Agreed the green party woman was a moron. Interestingly, when she trotted out (yet again) the line that UK Debt wasn't due to borrowing, it was all due to the evil banks who must be "reformed", not a single person in the audience clapped. Perhaps that tired & misleading populist line has finally run it's course.0

A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0

Not when the pensioners get wind of the tax hike he has planned for them.
Did I hear Farage say a flat rate of 31% (inclNI) plus a higher rate now as well? Website suggests 25%.
Web site suggests higher pensioner personal allowances (£15K) and transferable allowances which I would think takes most pensioners out of the equation or at least doesn't increase the tax burden for the majority.
The rate the current higher rate band is being denuded in real terms who knows what the tax take will be under any government.
further proposal to ensure pensioners are not disadvantaged the tax free allowance is £15,000 for pensioners.) The allowance should be transferable between couples recognising that if one spouse remains at home to bring up a family they are an equally valuable member of society as a working partner. The flat rate of 25%

Obviously WIP..
Lets hope they would keep ISAs too."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Like Labour's negative opposition to the Coalitions policies to tackle the deficit. Easy to make a rip roaring speech. However there's a real lack of substance. In terms of a future vision. Couple of points I noted from his comments last night.
If UKIP abolish NIC and have a flat rate of income tax, say 33%. Then pension income will suffer this rate meaning a considerable loss to low pension earners. BTL income and investment income will suffer likewise.
Raising the tax threshold to the level of the minimum wage, would cost billions. Taking October 2013's level. The threshold would need to rise to around £13,100 (based on a 40 hour week).0 -

Struck me a as a guy that we are going to here more of. Had a good presentational style. Debated well.0 -
I find I am a happier and more relaxed person if I don't watch QT. So I don't watch it (-:...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Time the format was rejigged. Too many replies to questions are off topic. Prepared monologues.0 -

A touch ambivalent for my liking. To good to be true.
What ever happened to that guy trying to sort out the meat fiasco?"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
