OP, where are you moving from/to? Is it a 150 mile round trip or 150 miles away? I would seriously think about using a van rather than trying to do multiple trips on the train. You can pallet it up and get it anywhere for about £30 a pallet using delivery sites on the net.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

Any landlord who allows sub-letting doesn't have a clue, and is asking for very serious legal problems.
Thats fine, If you want to believe this is a wind up then you and paddedjohn can go and and sit in the corner and be keyboard warriors together.Total debt Aug 2012: £3800, Nov: £3225, Dec: £3151.45 2013: Jan: £1544.24 :j Feb: £1492.03Sept 2013: Debt free

I'd rather do it myself, I do not trust couriers, specially pallet ones. In my previous job we used to use those services and the amount of gear that arrived damaged was a nightmare. Also means that I am basically doubling what I have to spend as I still have to go there, etc.Total debt Aug 2012: £3800, Nov: £3225, Dec: £3151.45 2013: Jan: £1544.24 :j Feb: £1492.03Sept 2013: Debt free

£25 for multiple return journeys of over 100 miles each way ?
Frankly the leave situation sounds insane -I had a similar issue earlier this year-I had holiday booked with flights for January into Febuary-and as 2013 wasn't yet loaded onto the leave system my manager emailed HR in the November-When dates were finally loaded they went quickly and I was refused (they were loaded on my day off) but when the email was produced pointing out I'd requested them before others who had got the dates-the refusal was over-ridden. If you are fairly sure you requested your dates ahead of others (do you have a dated request form?) it may be worth going higher and asking if this can be reconsidered.
Alternatively -as it's only what you can carry on the train -can you not move stuff before your moving date and put it in storage or store with a friend at either end ? What are the nearest holiday dates they can offer.....or would someone agree to a shift swop ? Picking up keys a little later shouldn't be a big issue.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Just a thought, but missing work on a day when you are needed (and for which holiday has been declined) could mean losing your job, and that would be far more expensive than hiring a "man and van" service.0

Being needed is not relevant, as they are always trying to send people home (even if there are the max amount of people on holiday. If it does come to calling in sick, I will do that. If I lose my job over it, then so be it. I'm not going to have all my personal possessions on the street while I am at work. If I end up losing my job, It just gives me more time to look for work in my new local area and I will have enough cash saved up to be able to survive for several months.Total debt Aug 2012: £3800, Nov: £3225, Dec: £3151.45 2013: Jan: £1544.24 :j Feb: £1492.03Sept 2013: Debt free

You are only given time off if the move was planned by your employer and they organised your residence.0

If you have enough in the bank to live on for a couple of months with no income surely this would be better used paying for a man & van to move your stuff and keep you employment?0

Post #8: My landlord has already got several tenants waiting to move in to my place, i'd end up homeless/losing all my stuff if I cant get the time off.
Post #26 I am subletting my flat out to a friend, the majority of my belongings will be staying in my garage until I move.
Which one is it?0
