They do say it varies a bit by manufacturer eg BMW are better than most when it comes to things going wrong with the 3YO+ diesels.

I have one of those :rotfl::rotfl:

Good to see you on so late squillion.
Modern diesels are no good unless you do 'squillion' (see what I did there ;))of miles,

Bit late now but I think I should have gone for the 2.5l litre petrol version instead of the 2.0l diesel:( But I do get an average 48mpg even with tesco trips and 60+ on a run
    Awaiting a new sig

Cob, I meant cob as in bread.

:o:o:o Oh crossed wires. You can cook bread in my cob oven. It is a fantastic bit of equipment. We use it out in the garden in the summer too. :)

    There's an idea!

When my old workpplace got swallowed up by the Congestion Charge zone I thought I'd explore gas conversion. Even though it wouldn't always exempt you from the charge, the savings look serious. The mileage per litre's not great but the price difference more than makes up for that.

Problem is you can't carry the new tank and luggage and a spare tyre.:( Or go in the Channel tunnel!

Really hacked off that diesel's not so competitively priced here as it is in Europe.:o
Hence why I have run (sadly just sold) an old diesel that I ran off veg oil at anything from 32p (tesco glitch) to a max of 95p a litre.
