Bit late now but I think I should have gone for the 2.5l litre petrol version instead of the 2.0l diesel:( But I do get an average 48mpg even with tesco trips and 60+ on a run

    Watch the video https://festivalofmotoring.telegraph.co.uk/telegraph/video/?version=2D

Seems you should plan in regular motorway speed journeys with the diesel.

It's not just DPF but other stuff as well, there are 3 bad areas.

Problem with the DPF is that people don't know how to drive to use them efficiently. Mine is the 6SL and I've never had any problems but know someone with an 6S who is always getting their DPF light on and fouled the DPF...£1000+ to fix

If I'm not doing any motorway driving in a week I always make sure it has a blast for 10 miles or so at > 2200 rpm to heat up the exhaust and burn the soot out of the DPF.

  • The most excellent thing about Telegraph's Peter (Honest) John is that he will always reply to your email. He gets about 10,000 emails a year so that's pretty good. Might be short, but it will be knowledgeable.
