Ooooh might give this a try (although DH can't stand garlic so wonder if I could omit that)
Might go nicely with some of the parioli pasta from tomorrow.
Got everything on that list except stock cubes (and garlic)
Thankyou
Just get smart price stock cubes. They're fine.
Yes, you can leave the garlic out.
I must say, I love the colour of the Parioli tomatoes and they seem to be very good quality. And they taste great.
Thanks also for pointing out that the whole tinned ones are september. Will look carefully tomorrow and get those if they've a longer date.0 -

You cannot go wrong with tomatoes - i buy the peeled plum and blitz with a handblender. stays lovely and red - and then add herbs/ worcester/ ginger/garlic salt/ chilli for pasta -
make chili concarne similar more chilli -
make a curry using curry powder/ mushy peas/ chili powder / tinned tomatoes and few more spices what ever you like -
make soups?
- add to stews with some stock - honestly the list is endless with tinned tomatoes and you can add the spices/herbs you like and serve with rice/pasta/salad/potatoes !
Fill those cupboards - once you start using them u will never go back to jars !0 -
I've found the chopped ones here are dated Aug and the whole ones Sept.
I've probably only got about 20 tins left (I did have 40 but shared half out amongst family members).
If I don't find any takers for the rest in the next month i'll probably donate the rest to the local food bank.
Unless anyone can suggest a receipe that uses tinned tomatoes that's easy for someone who sucks at cooking to do0 -

Hiya guys - sorry not been around much lately but certainly lost my mojo for MSE and FB though I did get DTD lamb last week
Last Monday I went to see the doc as I had been having terrible palpitations and dizziness and he checked my heart, giving me the OK there. Said it would be panic attacks, which is what my doc said about 18 months ago. These have been so much worse though, so I thought it best to get them checked. He said to remember when it happens that it will stop, even though it feels like it won't as it is happening. Also said it will be all the added stress lately plus the stress from last year coming through now. I asked for a change in my antidepressants as I have felt for over a year now that they 'take too much away' and make me sleep so very much, so he halved my dosage from 300 mg to 150 mgs and I am trying that out at the moment, though he said it will take about 2 weeks to show a difference
My great friends Steve & Andy where up decorating my bedroom for me last week and I stayed at their friend's cottage with them while they were doing it to be away from the paint smell ...... oh, and also because they dismantled and threw out my old wooden frame bed on the first day so I didn't have anything to sleep on anyway, until they put together my new faux leather gas lift storage bed on Saturday :j I just have to get the new flooring ordered and put down and get new curtains and blind and that is another room all done :j :j
I came up North on Sunday to stay at my sister's house while they are on holiday in America, and we interred Mam's ashes in the family grave on Monday morning, so she is totally at rest now, and probably giving Dad earache by now
I have been just checking in very occasionally to see if anything glitching, hence the free lamb, and trying to catch up, but am almost a week behind in reading and thanking posts :eek:Cheap e-readers.:)

I did threaten to make soup with them but didn't know where to start, thankyou for another couple of recipes to add to my listitch_for_a_glitch wrote: »Forget dates on tinned tomatoes, they will be OK for years, never mind months. Unless the tins are dented, in which case forget the date, they could well be tainted, even if they're dated 2025.
I'm not overly strict with my dates (unless it's meat or something I wouldn't want making me ill) I'm just worrying I could still have these left at the back of my cupboard in 2025Historic Debt August 2009 = £63,600 10th March 2017 = £0 100% paid all gone!
Mortgage started June 2015 = £170,000 January 2022 = £134,000
Saving for Xmas 2022= . . Amazon £55

Womble_Queen wrote: »This recipe immediately comes to mind:
Slug of olive oil
2 large onions (possibly bought during glitchy shops?)
2 cloves of garlic
Salt & Pepper to taste
Asda smart price mixed herbs (about a teaspoon)
Some fresh basil if you can get it whoopsied or dried
2 cans of Parioli
1 stock cube - Just use what you've got
Cook onions and garlic till transperant with a good slug of olive oil, add tomatoes, add herbs and stock cube and a pint of hot water and simmer. Once cooked, you can either blitz it a bit, or have it chunky. You could even add a chilli to give it a kick at the time of cooking the onions off. AND freeze.
was catching up on thread and was reading about slugs early and thought this was a recipe for slugs:eek::eek: will try to read more carefully:rotfl:
sounds nice without the slugs will give it a go thanks0
