Yes, what's wrong with Tesco or Asda? You can more or less pick your hours and shifts, I believe.

Nothing, I doubt they will take on a disabled person for their physical jobs though.

    1) what is your disability?
    2) what's wrong with being on the tills?
    3) drop the "i'm disabled, I can't do x" attitude. It won't wash with me and hundreds of other disabled people. In fact I find it offensive.

Yes they will. Disabled people work in both my local Tesco and Asda.

    Ditto Hapless.

Yes, it is my fault too for picking a worthless degree subject in the eyes of employers I do know that is my biggest barrier to a job

And what subject would that be? Surely not Philosophy?

As I type this, I am sitting in my comfortable office in a beautiful building, that was restored and equipped for us with money given by: a philosopher! He became a multi-millionaire by using the ability to think that was developed by his training; he donated the cost of our building as a token of his gratitude to his former teacher, who is now the director of our research centre.

Why do employers rate philosophy as worthless compared to business and IT then?

Phil, why have you deleted your reply to Hapless' questions?

Ade Adepitan, Tanni Grey-Thompson, Bob Mortimer (he has osteoarthritis and has injections ever 4 weeks so he can be as mad as ever and painfree), Paul Henshall (actor, I'm with stupid, Holby City, Casualty)
    They have done it.

We have a disabled chap at our local sainsburys, he has cerebral palsy, he was also a thalidomide baby. He works at the quieter times and then works in the back office. He has his electric wheelchair at work and is always pleasant, never in a bad mood. He has worked for the company for 25 yrs.
So disability is not an excuse.
Look at him and people like Alison Lapper, who like this chap spent the first years of their lives in care home, they managed, so stop making pathetic excuses.

Because I am not going to blame being disabled as it has never stopped me in anything before.

So why are you saying it's stopping you with working in a supermarket?

It has never stopped me yet and it won't stop me now. It is just a matter of waiting for the right job to come along that I can do.
