At first I found it difficult to accept that if you get a good degree from a good uni it doesn't by any means guarantee you even a vaguely decent paying job but it annoys me that you think you're the only one in this situation. Mr cupid worked for 12 months earning about 12k depsite graduating with a first and it took him 5 months after graduating to find that job.

Why should you jump into a well paid brilliant job with your 2:2 when he struggled to get anything with a first class degree, despite having held down part time jobs before and having had a life beyond a computer whilst at uni.

Don't compare yourself to all these people who apparently are doing so wonderful because they're not in the majority. Quit moaning and keep looking.

I know for a fact several places are looking for call centre staff at the moment.....

I have never said a great job just a half decent one and I do not expect to jump into anything. I have done lots of charity work since I was 15. So I do have some experience.

A job at a call centre is not going to get me a career or give me any skills to get a better job. I would never get a call centre job anyway as I am not good enough on the phone as I am too shy and tend to mumble.

i work in a call centre, to be honest it isn't the job i dreamed of doing but what can i say? i used to work in retail, which is the worse and ok i know a career isn't going to be handed to me on a silver platter but i have decided if i work my backside off i can get the evidence to back this up in my assesments and then at least i have a reasonable case to back up what i am saying should something i want to do come up in the company
things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then ;)
BH is my best mate too, its ok :)

I trust BH even if he's from Manchester.. ;)

I have a plan but I don't know if it will work.

If I can get a weekend job in customer service, temp even odd jobs a week to get office experience, then do some management training to build my business knowledge then in 6 months to a year my CV will be vastly vastly vastly improved.

your snobby attitude to call centre work already offended many people on a previous thread. i don't think you have the communication, customer service and multi-tasking skills needed to do the job. the biggest problem would be your inability to listen.

I can not do the work it is as simple as that. It is nothing to be with being a snobb,

perhaps a degree in a subject that would have got you a job would have been better.

You do nothing but whinge and NO-ONE wants to employ a whinger.

The best way to improve yourself is to keep your head down, keep your gob shut and get on with whatever job you get.
Clean toilets if you have to, many employers would rather employ a graduate who has cleaned toilets than one who has just kept whinging all the time and not tried to get an "in-between" job.

Example... A friend of mine is a barrister, but after getting her law degree she could not find a practise so she went to work in Tescos until a position came up. She is now a senior partner in a major law firm. Her employer was impressed that she didn't just sit there waiting for a job to fall into her lap.

Yes, it is my fault too for picking a worthless degree subject in the eyes of employers I do know that is my biggest barrier to a job

Yes, what's wrong with Tesco or Asda? You can more or less pick your hours and shifts, I believe.

yup and if you work at Sainsburys you can go back to studying and they will up your hours during the holidays. If you go to Uni somewhere else they will let you work at the store nearest uni and the store nearest home.
