B & Q scam ?

i heard B & Queue are doing the " if you can find the product cheaper we'll refund plus 10 % " offer again, last time they did this i looked at it in detail, every product had been re labeled specially for B & Q so you could'nt get it anywhere else in that exact specification, though it was the same product from the same manufacturer, the timber i looked at was labeled as 0.5 mm different for instance.

Very underhand. Currys and PC World do exactly the same thing.
I wonder how long it will be before all the retailer apologists emerge whining that it isn't a scam. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

Joh Lewis used to be notorious for doing this too. Not sure if they still do but they used to assign it a JL product number so even though it was essentially the same make and model as being sold elsewhere it got them out of the price match thing.Everyone has a dark side... apparently mine is called Harold?!? :huh:0

Notorious? We have used the JL price match countless times over the years, and never had a problem.0 -
This is a very common loophole used by many of the big retailers. The worst one that I know of is Dreams. They rename products, and then put a RRP that is double (if not more) the price of the equivalent.0

It's not a scam!
Not a scam, but using a loophole to con customers into thinking they are going to get a better deal than they really are.0 -

I've had several family and friends not been able to use the price promise becuase of JL using their own product codes instead of the manufactureres ones. It's actually not too bad now but a few years back it seemed that half the stock was affected!Everyone has a dark side... apparently mine is called Harold?!? :huh:0 -

Really? Any examples? None of their branded clothing or electricals are recoded, or to my knowledge ever have been.0 -
Funnily enough I didn't think to keep a diary of them
It would seem that you've not had the same experience which can only be a good thing though.Everyone has a dark side... apparently mine is called Harold?!? :huh:0
