Thanks for this direction to pages 65 etc.
However i still can't find it. Is it number 13 on page 66 called video connector (video1) ?
Or is it a PCI card? Or are posters calling it a video card but its other name is media or is it a PCI card. Thanks for all the help.0 -

VIDEO CARD
yours may have a small fan on it,
you could also just have a basic graphics card built into the motherboard itself like this one below(the blue socket)
if you have both just take out the card and plug lead into blue socket on motherboard.
MOTHERBOARD

It looks a bit like your top photo. I've found where the blue part is where the monitor plugs in. How do I get this card out. Do I just unclip the snap down lock type thing but firstly use a screwdriver to unscrew the hinges from the outside ?

Also is the whole thing the card? With all those batteries on it. It's quite large. I was looking for something like an sd micro card type thing!0 -

Its not fixed it.
Thank you everyone for persevering. I finally got the video card out. Now I've put it back in and started up again. Sadly it hasn't fixed the problem. What do I do now ? Do I just now buy a new video card and replace the existing one? The dell forum page you sent me the links to doesn't help if this isn't the fix as it doesn't go on to say what they did when it didn't fix it. TIA.0 -

It's not for sure the the graphics card is the problem, but here is a suitable card for £19.98.
This seems a common problem with that particular machine.
Though before you purchase, have you tried it with the on-board graphics card(if there is one)? If there is, it will be another blue terminal such as is on the graphics card that you took out.
Plug the monitor into there. If it doesn't work you should take the additional step of booting into BIOS/Setup and changing the setting to Onboard for Graphics.0 -
Thanks for the suggestions. There isn't another blue terminal. There's only one place on the back of the PC to connect the monitor. I take it that as there isn't an on board graphics/another blue socket that I can't do the BIOS step? If I can do the BiOS step how do you do that when you can't see what you are doing as its not displaying? Thanks a lot.NiftyDigits wrote: »It's not for sure the the graphics card is the problem, but here is a suitable card for £19.98.

Checked the cables between the PC and the tower? If you can hear the Windows music then unlikely a Motherboard problem and possibly the graphics card, but I wouldn't bet £19.98 on it.

What's the Service Tag on your machine?0
