don't know who to turn to regarding DLA

my partner was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis in Oct 12 and after taking all his company sick pay he's now on SSP...he applied for DLA at the beginning of March, and i rang DLA today asking how his claim is going as he's struggling making appointments at the hospital due to lack of money etc....and i was informed they had written to his doctors at the end of march and his doctors hadn't bothered replying!!!
We are claiming CTC and still getting WTC for the next 6 months, and getting housing benefit paid but there's still quite a bit of difference in pay and we struggling loads ..especially as we can't claim free school dinners as we're still in receipt of WTC...
I really don't think he's gonna get dla after this latest doctor mess up, so would i be better going to get a job, even though strictly speaking i'm his carer at the moment?just dont know what to do, we've had advice from the citizens advice etc, but they just asaid wait for the dla to come through....but that was before the doctor mess up:(

Sorry, i know your husband has problems but that sounds like a lame excuse, thousands upon thousands of single mothers manage to juggle work with kids.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -
he also needs care around the house and id say this is around 30- 35 hours a week, just can't go on been this skint as we'll never get back on our feet again0

How old is your partner? I ask because I'm 46 and have suffered bad psoriasis for a lot of years (since I was 7). That said, the psoriasis problem was and still is easily controllable, unless you can get xrays or suchlike and proof that the joints are shot from your doctor then I highly doubt that you'll get DLA.0

Why would you need "help" getting the children to and from school ?
Do you mean you need physical help as in you can't manage to get them there (do you have a disability of some kind for example ?) or something else ?
How did the children get to and from school before your partner stopped working ?I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -

Well, unless you know of some magic potion which can enable a person to be in two places at once, I would imagine she would need someone to take the children to/from school whilst she was at WORK!
Trying to find working hours Mon-Fri 09:30-14:30 is incredibly difficult!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Difficult but not impossible, many many mothers do it day in day out.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0
