Wear long trousers and sleeves. That's what I do, even in 30 degrees. Although for some reason thai mosquitos will get through anything.0

There so much information regarding using a lower concentration of DEET than 100% and retaining an effective deterrent that I am surprised it is being recommended.
Whatever works for you I guess.0 -
Thanks, I have used the stuff in the pink and white bottles loads of times. Its actually pretty good, but it doesn't last too long.
Though I get seriously munched by mosquitoes they almost always bite me on my ankles and lower legs wherever in the world I am
You are obviously the ideal person to reccomend products then :rotfl::rotfl:The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Thank you so much for your replies.
DD has quite severe although controlled Eczema, so at the moment she only has slight outbreak on her creases of arms/knees. However few years ago we used a sensitive sun cream nd it flared her eczema up completely ruining our holiday as the poor little girl was in agony. We do not want a repeat of this!
She has suncream from the GP now which so far has been brilliant. I was wondering if anyone has ever asked GP for mozzie repelent? He may be able to reccomend to me.
I will try the boots product as the soltan range have always been great with my 2 other children.
Thank you again fo all your replies. Safe travels.0 -
the only thing that i found effective was having the plug in poison, which kills them effectively if the windows are shut.0

I would say high concentration DEET is the best option. In the evening dress your daughter to cover most of her body, and use the DEET only where it needs to be used. If you put her in soft cotton clothes she will be more comfortable and you will need only to use tiny amounts of your repellant( test in a small area at home). Also avoid areas where there is standing water. Keep hydrocortisone cream and antihistamines on standby to deal with the bites/eczema!0

Mosquitos adore me for some reason and I always have a bad reaction them.
My plan of attack is to take anti histamines a week before going on holiday and keep taking them for the duration. I have a plug in repellent for the room, citrus scented candle for the balcony, lemon and tea tree shower gel and lemon body butter for the evenings!0 -
Hi wwhere we're going on holiday in June alot of reviews on trip advisor have mentoned mosquitos. Does anyone have any tips to help deal with this problem? Any products to reccomend me before i go out and waste money. We're travelling with 3 children one of which has eczema so a little concerned about what to try with her.
Thank you in advance

From what you've said about your daughter's eczema, I would ask your GP for advice on what mozzie repellant to use for her.
On a general note, I find it best to attack the little blighters in a number of ways:
by mosquito repellent (I use Autan or Boots Repel - both tropical strength)
not sitting near stagnant water or greenery
making sure I have spray with me if there's a chance I might be out after dusk - even if I have to put it in my bag in the morning
covering up my legs with trousers or long dresses
using plug-ins in every room, even the bathroom
keeping balcony doors closed after dusk
not sitting on a lit-up balcony at night0 -
