I like to make my own garlic bread and just mix some garlic puree with flora light, however I was wondering if I could mix the puree with olive oil to make a healthier spread? Does anyone know if this would work? Thanks

Yep and I bet it will be lovely. You could also try adding some herbs to the mixture. I wrap mine in tin foil to bake it.

A friend of mine, who lives in Gibraltar simply rubs a garlic clove over her bread before toasting it  So, in theory there is no reason why your idea wouldn't work :):):)

I often make it with just olive oil, in fact my OH prefers this way, while I do occasionally like it with just butter. Put your sliced bread or rolls on to a sheet of foil first. Crush the garlic and put a little on each slice, then drizzle oil down it so that some falls in between each slice, push it back together, wrap up and bake as normal. With nice olive oil this is tastier and less rich than a butter version.

Or if you're in a real hurry cut a really thick slice of bread, toast on one side, turn over and put crushed garlic, and any herbs you like, on the other side, and then drizzle with oil and grill under a low grill (or move the oven shelf down) until the bread is toasted (low grill is important so you don't burn the garlic and turn it bitter and thick slice of bread keeps it moist and breadlike rather than winding up with crispy toast).

Would you just use an ordinary beguette from the market for this?
