I am 26 and most of my current debt is either on my mortgage or from buying my ex out.

However, I have had credit cards of 1500 and a 2500 OD since I was about 20. I dont earn a small fortune either but there are ways round that, second jobs, additional income, lodgers, saving money on bills etc.

Have more of a read and I am sure you will see you have come to the right place and you will get all the support you need. I hope you post your SOA so we can all help you and give you loads of good advice. No one is going to recognise you so dont worry!

    Best wishes!

    Hi Heregoes,

I'm 36 next week. Was in approx 30k worth of debt but now down to £3500 (student loan). Paying this off at a steady pace and saving what I can towards a deposit for a mortgage.

when you feel comfortable, post your SOA and I'm sure the advice you'll receive will help you greatly. The amount of good advice on this site is a godsend.

    Best of Luck.

    Regards,

HI there, dont be ashamed we are all in same boat.I am 33 my OH is 35 we have 2 kids 8 and 6months and we owe £64000 on mortgage and £20000 on secured loan.If I stay being a DFW and I hope I do and dont ever, ever touch another cc I hope to be debt free in 10 yrs.we earn £50000 between us
  • I'm 30 and OH is 25. We have about 27K of debt - a lot of which was run up in the last 3 years or so because of a change to our circumstances. We haven't told anyone the extent of our debt, but since joining this forum we've started to make progress in paying it off. We might tell close family / friends later on, when we've made a significant dent in it.

This forum, and everyone on it, has been such an inspiration to me - I'm sooooo glad I found it. :)

    I am 26,

    current debts are:

Mortgage = £120,000 (ish) (17 years to go - overpaying 20% per month) (shared with OH)

    Student Loans = aprox £16,000

Nationwide Loan = £2,000 (20 months to go)

The mortgage and student loans I don't really see as proper debts hence my hazy idea of how much they actually are at the moment.
