Is this an answer to my Maestro card, on just a general observation?0

In answer to your Maestro card, I'd say the consensus is that you should just use your Danske one, as the vast majority of places will accept it. I've never had problems using mine in Sainsburys (where it's used ever week), and haven't come across any online sites that won't take it either.

Try Tompson and Morgan for plants, they won't take it. QVC don't either.0 -

Move bank. You can get a decent debit card, with contactless payment and a decent credit interest rate and low overdraft charges from and big bank.
I have first trust, Halifax and Santander accounts and the customer service from the first trust is a lot better then the other 2 - my local branch phones me if a debit card transaction will put my account overdrawn, if I have to deposit a cheque or take out more money than the ATM they have a local branch (First Trust & Ulster are the only banks left in my town) and the nearest Santander is 12 mile away and the nearest halifix is 20 mile away.
Although I use halifax and Santander to get rewards and interest my everyday account (which i use for withdrawing money, debot card transactions etc) is still First Trust.
The other advantage of first trust is that withdrawals are free from AIB machines in the South - which to me is the major reason i use this acccountsaverbuyer wrote: »I couldn't handle having to keep a list of security codes for online banking, it's like the 90s. Not to mention the fact that the credit interest is only 0.25% max. Santander is 3.0%. You are basically paying first trust to have your money rather than them pay you.
Santander is only 3% interest if you have over £3,000 - if you have under £1,000 its zero plus there is a £2 monthly charge (which if you don't have many direct debits the cashback may not cancel out). The santander 123 account can actually cost you money if you don't maintain it properly.
0.25% interest is better than a £2 fee.
Personally, I like having a local bank.Weight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0
