Maybe its the easy access savings account which was paying 3% until last month when it reduced to 2.5% - that along with my Santander 123 giving 3% is helping me manage my easy access savings

Yeah but 3%+ was being offered by other banks, when ulster were giving you 3%.

Wouldn't get one because I have got into financial difficulties with cc

That's hardly the credit card's fault.
Seriously, I fail to understand how anyone of normal intelligence cannot manage a credit card responsibly.

Seriously but why in 2013 does anyone (outside of business) use Danske, Bank of Ireland, First Trust or Ulster Bank. Their charges are ridiculous, I.T is antiquated and savings rates abysmal.

Move bank. You can get a decent debit card, with contactless payment and a decent credit interest rate and low overdraft charges from and big bank.

We are with FT, and never had a problem with them. Online Banking does what it is supposed to do, they provide Visa Debit, never charged me for our Current Account, provided me with a CC that provides some cashback etc. Overall happy enough with them.

Savings are moved around anyway, whoever offers me the best rates. Couldn't swap Current Account every time I change Savings account(s).

I couldn't handle having to keep a list of security codes for online banking, it's like the 90s. Not to mention the fact that the credit interest is only 0.25% max. Santander is 3.0%. You are basically paying first trust to have your money rather than them pay you.

Banked it BoI and Northern for years, went to Santander (formerly Abbey) about 10 years back when altering the mortgage. Took the current account to them too. Never had a charge off them or a problem with them in that time, Savings account that pays interest, current account that pays interest with a Visa Dedt card, competitive mortgage with extra discount for being a customer.

Most Norn Iron folk have woken up to the big 4 here and voted with their feet :) The rare occassion I need to go into a bank, my city has 2 offices and opens on Saturdays too :) can't beat that with a big stick :)
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:

I get 8% with my first direct regular saver and 3% with my santander account. Both great online.

First Trust also charge £30 to transfer an ISA, their CHAPS payment charges are crazy too. Not to mention the fact they have been trying to sell up for years.

True but thats when I was using the 3% plus accounts - started using Ulster 3% when the other rates started dropping - then on to Santander with Ulster as a backup - don't wanna lock more money away at today's fixed rates as they ain't much better than 2.5 - 3% so watching out in hope of some improvements - fool that I am!!

There must be an awful lot of stupid people out there? Take a look around, the bankers made this mess, and we are all paying for it.

Of course the bankers had a massive part to play, especially the one that put the gun to your head and said "spend, spend, spend". He's the worst of the lot Pepper.
