Overwhelmed by all the replies @chelle333 and debtfreeatlonglast ... will note those down but just purchased a bottle of the Naked range from Boots, so will trial this first.

Many years ago my doctor recommended aqueous cream (after I had tried some very expensive remedies). Just slop it on, let it dry for a while, a few hours if possible, then wash it without using shampoo. I'd reached the stage where my forehead had become allergic to my hair & itched all the time. It is available in a lot of places for only 99p a large pot. The best thing is that it doesn't have a load more chemicals in it to cause more allergies.

We have tons of Aqueous cream, as she also suffers from eczema, thanks. Does it wash out okay without shampoo :undecided?

Yes it acts just like a shampoo - not quite as foamy but foamy enough to feel like it is working and your hair does feel really really clean. I normally put it on a couple of hours before bedtime & let it soak in then put more on. I wash my hair in the shower in the am, so I start with just a little water to lather.

Just putting it on really cools the scalp and takes the heat out of the itching. I hope it works for your daughter, it doesn't work for everyone obviously as it depends on the cause. But at least it costs very little to try, unlike some of the other treatments available. I have my fingers crossed for you!

If you feel you need to know more just ask. PM me if you would rather.

The over-the-counter version contains half the active ingredient of the prescription version.

I now have a doctors appointment, so will see what they recommend, but carry on with the Naked shampoo from Boots in the meantime.

Thanks Patanne. I will mention it to the doc as we are there Thursday, and see what he says re the Aqueous. She might find it awkward to rinse off herself, especially if it has to be left on; and she'd never get up in time to wash it off in the morning :rotfl:. Could be something to try of a weekend maybe though.
