About a week right enough. I need to lie down.

ON the positives today so far

Fish picked up at bargainous price as is cheeses
Veggies all sorted and three humungous boxes in the car
Given some free home made wine so that's in the car too
Elderflower cordial (HM) in the car too
    Oatcakes in car
    Frock in car
    Shoes/hair thingmy's/etc in the car
Nice new wellygogs still in box but in the car too
Half the kitchen appliances in the car
Some of the shopping in the car (the only bit that's done)

Still a fair bit to do tonight - sailing early tomorrow.

However I do need a cuppa.

Thanks for the chocy explaination forgot to go as sucked into sushi ingredient shopping and fishmongers chat. I'll try and get it on the mainland.

    Cuppa Time I think

  • Morning Pippi and all,

Are you on the way? I hope it all goes smoothly and nothing important gets forgotten (sounds as though you've got the car full already!)

Glad you have mostly recovered from the work fracas. As it says in the poem 'Desiderata', 'avoid loud and aggressive people, they are vexations to the spirit.' I hope it isn't necessary for your path to cross that of the silly person for a while at least!

Have a wonderful week and try not to stress about stuff, it will all be alright on the day!

    Hey up me ducks

How are you all today - I'm entrenched at 'himself's' avec mutts minus a dd (at home and leaving today - teenagers.........:)) Thanks Beanie and L thank you it was a lovely lovely flat sail which was nice as it can go either way at this time of year - and a few stops down the way.

Car's half unpacked - I lost the will to live and food was a calling but the fish/cheese etc is safely chilling in himself larder fridge.

Trog - thank you for the quote - and the thoughts it did make me feel better. I'm off/away now for at least a couple weeks and then I've a quiet start back working by myself. :)

DD hopefully will gather all the things I forgot...........:D

    Today's a day of lists.
    And charity shops
    And more lists
And a cuppa with a chum to also raid her garden of foliage :)

And I've to still purchase/find the best deal on the following things from supermarkets - now I'm down in the land of the choices I may go to places like Morrisons and Aldi (which I've heard of but seldom been in)
we need some fodder for the buffet

Cold meats (not my kind of thing but some folks like such fodder)
Fizzy water to make up the HM elderflower fizz (17p is the cheapest I've found)
    Cream cheese
    Cream (double)
Bread for the masses - which will be picked up by a kind granddad on Sunday morning enroute to wellycentral.

I will apologise - if you hear anything of me it will be focused on feeding 100, which I know is a bit decadent but trying to do that on £500 whilst maximising the tastiness.

Thus far we have a 'flexible buffet' planned mainly cold bits with a few hot bits lobbed in here and there - big focus on fish (we like fish) but mindful of non-fishywishy eaters and our veggie/vegan/gluten free posse too. Good old Wik is very adaptive :) So there will be enough to feed the masses but its actual 100% nature is as yet not settled. We're improvising and working with what we've got and filling in the gaps were we need.

    Free veggies so far
Marrows - oh so many marrows (lob any thoughts on the subject below please - one is destined for soup, one for a veggie cous cous roasted veg salad, the rest as yet undecided.
    Courgettes - tiny and cute
Broad beans - thinking of a houmous type dip with them a chum made a while back
    Carrots
    Cabbage (coleslaw)
Tatties - for stovies and tattie salad and possibly little nibblets with a dollop of sour cream
    onions
    shallots
neeps (can't have a wedding without a neep)
    two carrier bags of apples.

More still to come. So in true Pippi backwards logic - I'm working out the 'sides and salads' from the ingredients we have and then seeing what we need to purchase.

And speaking of marrows (and I know some of you shudder at the mere sound of them) - I saw a recipe on River Cottage for a wee bite canopy from them with some seasoning and some cheese - rolled into little balls - must check that out and have a go at it if I find the recipe/ingredients.

Oh so much cooking to do - I'm quite excited.

Non cooking chores to intersperse the kitchen slaver.

Righty oh - first off I have a car of vegetables to unpack.

I'm sure I'll bother you all again later.

  • Eeeh the delights of Al*i, you are in for a treat. Lots of bargainous things in there. Although for multiple buys then good old morrisons may be the way to go.

    Enjoy the Neeps ;-)

  • Hey nothing like a neep to get a party started - there is a gino Mr M's near the DD's pick up point - might go investigate - I have a provisional list.......

I guess I could lob it all into moneysupermarket thingmy but I think I've only used it once.....ponders.

The tame chef assures me all will be fine.

    :)

Today's plan is to have a relatively productive day
Pick up dd from the land of the Jute
Pick up the fizz from said lands too
    Pick up table decs
Pick up few bits still missing (brain etc)
Check banks to see if wages from learning factory landed
    Walk el mutts
Finish making a provisional list for to do jobs

Before all of that have a lovely shiny bath and walk the doglets prior to zooming off.

Great haul of tea light holders from charity shop yesterday for 10p each - a motely eclectic mix, just like our rellies.

Also got some lovely square white plates

Coveted some heart shaped bowls - it appears I'm becoming a sap.

Coffee and a wee relaxed start to the day me thinks.

I might not really catch up with most of your exploits over the next wee while - sorry xx
