I can't tell what you mean by this - are you saying that you would tamper with the post of someone expressing such an opinion - or just tamper with ther person?! Either way, I think veiled threats like this may be why the postal service has a bad reputation.
I meant he needs to be taught a lesson on percentages. 50% is 1 out of every 2 which he is saying are basically thieving sods. It is nothing like that. I accept that like every other business in the lad their are tea leaves but NOT anything like 50%.
I would say it's less that 2%. I would be horrified if anyone I worked with stole paper, packages, vouchers or anything.
50% is a bloody ridiculous figure, I believe there are 100,000 postman / women and he thinks half of them are crooked. NOT A CHANCE.
Even 2% is a huge amount.nothing.0 -

Royal Mail today voted to strike. I can see why.
The increase in wages will be reflected on the price of a stamp. This will effect you and me.
Personally I think its a good idea.
If postal workers are paid properly then we wouldnt have such a mess.
This chaos is capitalism in democracy for you. Lol...0 -

Agreed, no industry is safe from theft or crime, but there still is that percentage now isnt there, so I have no regrets about saying it, the fact is its true. RM employ a vast percentage of Temp staff within the sorting offices, some not even legal UK citizens, a majority who cannot be traced if they decide its rich pickings to go through parcels and packages. Dispatches covered this on one of their programs, along with the amount of mail STOLEN by RM staff. Unfortunatley, it goes on, and until RM can sort out the good from the bad in their staffing policies, Mud sticks. And if you knew where I lived, that mud will still stick, and the only regrets I would have, is that its still going on within the RM.
Can I just add here that all new RM staff go through a rigorous security check before employment now. I know that it is strict as I work for the business and have recently seen 2 new starters be dismissed for extending the length of a previous job which came to light when they did checks. No we are not perfect and yes things go missing but I believe the majority of our postal workers do a fantastic job. If a parcel has been sent normal first or second class there is absolutely no point in calling customer services as they cannot trace the item and claims can only be made via a claim form which is available at the PO so save yourself the cost of the call money savers!!;)0 -
How about this one then?
My wife urgently needed 12 brochures from her firm's head office and arranged for them to be posted special delivery - so they should have arrived the next day without fail.
They didn't - so she rang late the following afternoon to enquire whether they'd forgotten to post them - and was told that the package had been returned marked 'incomplete address'.
Her colleague at head office checked the address label:
Firm's name
Building address (it's a large 40-year old office block)
Street name
Post town name
County name
Postcode
Actually, it was excessively addressed (the County is no longer officially part of the address according to the Royal Mail postcode checker).
OTOH, the label didn't specify what country but how can that be 'incomplete address'? To prove the point, a separate (1st Class) letter from head office, posted at the same time as the package and bearing an identical address label was delivered!Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
