What are the news?
Smiled at reading that you did not open a solicitor bill as you knew it will make you angry - known feeling. I wonder whether all those people who divorced with solicitors did think about service they were receiving or just did not question it and saved becoming angry by not thinking about it. Or there are any that were genuinely happy with bills despite analysing them. The word "dilemma" comes from Greek where "di" means two and "lemma" means premise. Refers usually to difficult choice between two undesirable options.
Often people seem to use this word mistakenly where "quandary" would fit better.0 -
Still haven't opened bill!
court case for eviction is still set for 24 Feb, I have submitted counterclaim which has cost me £185.Regards

Again, thankyou for update Jack - and I hope a pancake or several found you yesterday.
Is any more p/w, or response to your counterclaim, expected pre-Hearing?
Are you on your own next Tuesday for that?CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

No news really accept I got a bill reminder from my solicitor which screamed out £950 for last months services of very little!
I'm Going to follow the firms complaint procedure even though I've been advised it rarely results in anything but I have to do that first before complaining to external parties etc
Court case Tuesday morning for rental repossession my friend who's a landlord is attending with me thinks I've a 90% chance of winning.
I have submitted a claim against the landlord for not registering deposit after 12 month term and unlawful rent increase. Cost me £185 to register claim. I tried to get the court to review both claims at the same hearing but I needed to complete an application that would cost £50 so decided to leave it and do them the same.
House sale is progressing ok with move date 27 March. I know from speaking to my daughter they will need to move stuff into storage until they get somewhere to buy etc. I need to clear out the shed but am reluctant to bring too much stuff to my rental if I am forced to move out of that so will wait for the outcome of the hearing. I may go over Sunday and sort it in terms of stuff for the tip but there's bulky stuff like gas bbq, wheel barrow, workmate, big petrol lawn mower, bike, electric tools etc.Regards

Remember Freecycle for any unwanted goods if you have them.
Hope the case goes well.
If you have time, it might be useful for others if you posted what you did and what happens on the House Renting and Sale board re not protecting deposit.
It seems to happen to a few, but most have no idea how to take this to court, what happens and would be interesting to know how the judge rules. I've not seen anyone on there post an update beyond writing a letter before action to the LL.0 -
Yes ok will share what I did. My friend who's a landlord research and found some similar cases so I submitted a claim. I wrote to my landlords solicitor explaining that I wouldn't make the claim if they dropped the the repossession claim. After 2 weeks no response so I have proceeded. Obviously they are confident of winning so we'll see what happens.
I may get all the stuff back and see what I can pick up on eBay for stuff?Regards

Fingers crossed for you on Tuesday Jack
I'd suggest Gumtree or cheapcycle for selling things rather than eBay to avoid fees and scammers, & freecycle if you don't want any cash for things that are still useable- Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted

Well, that's an eye-opener!
The results of the poll speaks volumes...over 94% think that ex-spouses should get a job to support themselves.
I love the way that the ex-wife in this case, tried to claim that caring for her 10 year old exempted her from working. The child is a boarder at a public school!
Good to see that the judge noted that a working mother can be viewed as a "positive role model".....just as many of us have stated, more than once.
Jack, you should definitely send the link to ex.......;)"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0
