Ha! I've just asked my hubby of 18 years when he knew I was 'the one'. His response? "I still don't know!"
Apparently I'm still 'on trial'. Guess who's not getting any hanky panky tonight?
It took me a week or so. And I know that's all it took him too! The fact that he stood up to my violent ex who was trying to muscle in when he found out I'd been on a date spoke volumes.0 -
I've had that same feeling several times, each time the person ended up being a long term relationship (2+ years). The feeling was quasi-immediate, ie within hours of meeting/getting together, something just clicked.
Since I'm currently single, I don't think I've met "THE one" (or else it would mean I've missed out forever!), but I've certainly met a few "ones", who could have lasted much longer under different circumstances. You just know, somehow!0 -
were you stalking him Judi?

I would say it was quite a few years to be honest. I could never imagine being with anyone else (apart from a small blip of a few weeks a few years ago when things weren't too good) but we got together young, when I was still at Uni and I suppose you don't know how you'll 'grow up'
In the last 3 years things have got better and better and now I'm absolutely certain. We're getting married in 3 weeks after 17 years together - I'm not one to rush into things :rotfl:0 -

I don't believe in love at first sight or anything like that, so for me with my ex it was after about 18/24 months. I don't think you really know someone until you've known them at least a couple of years, and don't see how you can see yourself with someone for life until you really know them.
It was more that we were always comfortable in each others company, neither playing games, or trying to impress. Just natural and easy. Arguments were extremely rare as well, as drama free as you could get for the most part. We had several common interests as well as our own interests.
There was attraction at first sight and strong relationship bonds after a few months, but it was probably the best part of two years before I started to think that this was the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.0 -
About a year, for me....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

And he is still totally awesome. Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...0 -
About 5 and a half years in.
I think you can think/feel 'he's the one' pretty soon, but time tells if you're right.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0
