How/when did you know?

Just wondering, when/how did you know you'd met 'The One' or at least someone very special when you met your OH? Apologies if there is already a thread about this.

Thanks

I can't say I knew MrD was 'The One' when I first met him. I knew he was a bit of fun and I definitely fancied the pants off him :). Shamefully I can't even say if I knew he was 'The One' when we bought our house together (3 years into our relationship). All I knew was I liked being around him :). I would probably say it was closer to the 6 year mark when I realised he was The One.

And I knew he was The One when I realised how much he cared for and supported me through a really crap time at work. I gave him hell and he still stood by me. :) He was, and still is, my rock.

I knew the night I met him....he was just a genuinely lovely person (and still is). You know how sometimes you just gel with some people and not others for no apparent reason...well I just found him so easy to be around.

That night I truly believed he didn't like me although I fancied him rotten (he was out with my friend and her partner as he was friends with him). When he contacted me shortly after I couldn't believe it. We had a proper date, the easiest guy ever to talk to. I caught the bus home and I remember thinking he wouldn't want to see me again. I continued like that for months just waiting to be dumped as it felt too good to be true!!!! So it wasn't knowing he was the one per se, more a case of hoping he was! But here I am 12 years on with the same laid backed, generous, kind and easy to be with bloke. I've fallen out with him many times and vice versa but I can't imagine life with anyone else
  • I have only had 4 dates with the guy I met about a fortnight ago. And it feels much different to any other guy I have ever met. I love everything about him. I guess maybe I will know in a few years if the feeling of him being the one and him actually being the one is 2 different things though lol.

It sounds daft but when I met him I had the same feeling that I had when I viewed my house for the first time.
