I asked something very similar a couple of days ago and there seems to be two camps - the 'know virtually immediatelys' and the 'think about it for a few months'. Both groups seemed happy with how it worked out so I don't think it matters.
I'm seeing someone who thought 'yes' within an hour, but 4 weeks on I'm still thinking about it, lol, if it happens it happens, if it doesn't, it doesn't. we are all different in how we 'work'.[STRIKE][/STRIKE]I am a long term poster using an alter ego for debts and anything where I might mention relationship problems or ex. I knew the first time we talked properly, had seen him around before and thought he looked quite nice, had a dance and that was it! Celebrate our ruby anniversary next month. He can be a bit of a twit sometimes though!!Slightly bitter0

I am a very cautious person by nature. It takes me a very long time to develop strong feelings for someone. I had known my ex for 2 years before I felt totally confidant to think of him as being 'the one'.
If you have barely had the time to get to know a person, then how do you know if you really like them and all the little things that make them who they are? Let alone feel confidant enough to think that they could be 'the one' for you.
Many people confuse love for lust. I think it is wise to let those initial feelings settle and then see how you feel about somebody. Take the relationship at a steady pace and see what evolves over time.
People who fall in love quickly often fall out of it again really fast too. In my view for someone to be 'the one' you need to know them inside out and trust them 100%, that takes a very long time. Not something that comes about in days, or weeks. The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0 -
I took a long time to be sure about my hubbie. However once I'd done all my thinking, decided that he was the right one for me and that I felt we could make a marriage work I felt very sure. We feel really solid and happy and hope we continue as we have done for the last eight years. However I over think everything and consider every possibility and option, but then once I'm sure I'm very sure.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0

Quite a while. We were best friends for years before it evolved into something more, and were already living together. Becoming something more meant changing our friendship irreversibly, so it had to be the right decision.0

I didn't know I had met the one until I had been dating him for nearly 10 years. Yup, I was that silly! Married now, wouldn't do without him.0
