Im happy ive just been upgraded from a cash card to Debit card existing customers have to call up and request one. :-)

I've heard it'll have the HSBC logo on it, have a magnetic strip on the back and a chip and some numbers on the front (just above the expiry date and customer's name) and it will be either online or offline.

It will probably look like there ordinary bank account debit card, but most certainly will be the online version!!!

No contactless is only available on full bank accounts, its a basic account and its basic for a reason!!!!

Contact-less isn't ready to even go live in the UK for a few years yet, so not sure what all the fuss is about...

Load of crap I have contactless on quite a few of my debit cards and have used it a number of times.

So your contactless isn't ready statement is a LIE if it isn't ready to go live then why can I use it!!!!!

Contactless is avaiable on auth all cards....
I have a 02 prepay card that is contactless.

Now will HSBC issue a contactless card on the basic acc, is a diffrent issue.

You are right I had forgotten about the O2 prepay card that is contactless and is a full auth card.

Most banks only offer there contactless cards on full current accounts and not Basic accounts. As 9 times out of 10 these accounts are opened by people whom have credit problems and can only get these types of accounts.

I don't think HSBC will be giving a contactless debit card on a basic account anytime soon.
