Residential Parking

I agree a polite note isn't unlawful unless offensive as that would fall under section4 of public order act, etc.
I further agree regarding them not now being able to clamp etc.
My question still remains what's the law regarding these spaces....
If all is as you say, public car park where the only sign is "residents only" then there's nothing to stop anyone parking there as there is no remedy against someone who is not a resident who happens to park there.Bought, not Brought0 -
Is it definately a public car park, can you put a link up to google streetview so we can see the area.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

Are they council flats or private?0

Sounds as if they are parking spaces created by the developer for the use of the flats residents. But who knows until the OP makes it clear.0

Couldn't find an appropriate section...
In short the block of flats next to my house have tons of parking spaces and put a not on visitors cars if they dare park there.
You said it yourself, "the block of flats... has..." So the parking belongs to the flats. I don't know what you mean by public parking. Public parking would be clearly identified as such and be maintained by the council.I admit the visitors may be in the wrong as there a clear "residential parking" signs, but what do they mean.
It means that if you're not a resident you shouldn't park there. Presumably the residents pay a charge on their lease to retain those spaces, which were built for them. You don't therefore don't park there.Anyone can buy a sign on ebay and alike and put it up.
Try that on the next 30 speed limit you come across. There are no lines nor council notices or restrictions
Why would there be?
What a bizarre thread.0 -
There is. You block them in.
I guess so, but this applies anywhere really, i'm actually going to sell my car because i'm terrified someone could block me in next time I park at ASDA. It's jsut not worth the hassle having a car with the constant risk of being blocked in.Bought, not Brought0 -
Always one....
I think they have made and put up their own sign and it is public property...
Theres 6 flats and 32 spaces none marked out or allocated, no controlled parking messages just a couple of shop bought signs.
Download the head lease from land registry, that will show if the parking area is on the same title as the block itself. Given there are no council notices chances are it is private property. If so they can put any signage up they like, just as you can on your private property. Spaces are only allocated if they are for the use of specific flats, generally paid for individually, rather than for the use of all residents of the block and their guests.
It's about as ignorant to park on a private car park for a block of flats as it is to park on someone's front drive or garden, it's irrelevant whether it is occupied or not. Using the word 'dare' in the OP just makes you seem rather self centred TBH. If you want to park there, write to the freeholder or managing agent and ask to rent a space. That car park costs money to maintain, that would be pretty expensive between six flats if all the locals decided they'd park wherever they pleased.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

Not necessarily. There may be conditions in the deeds that prevent this in shared areas. (Of course, if it was agreed by the residents committee and/or the factor then it would likely be OK).0 -
