Who do you think should pay for your MIL's care so you can inherit something you have not earned?

The same system that pays for the care of the person who has !!!!!! all their money away in life through Booze, fags drugs and gambling.

There is an element of self fulfilling prophecy here though, in actuarial terms at least. Discussed smoking with my GP some time ago and we agreed the benefits, smokers are far less likely to spend years in dementia requiring expensive care, so with the holy trinity above (not sure gambling helps in this regard) the individual might not have any money but is likely to pop off more quickly and so cost less in the process.

Of course its a form of tax..by the back door again, take from the poor and give to those who dont need it....Hood Robin

Why should someone whose accommodation is paid by the state be able to live in an oversized house when someone paying for their own property has to make do with what they can afford.

A couple of friends with 3 kids live in 2 bed house. Not ideal but that is all they can afford so why should the state pay for others to have more space than then need?

Bedroom tax is a ridiculous name for what is actually common sense.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Because there are simply not enough affordable smaller homes for them to move into.
The Government just says they can move into smaller homes without checking whether there are any!!

    Yep.
Smokers and drinkers pay lots of tax, then they die earlier before they can claim so much pension - a double bonus for the economy. Especially if they are all bought duty paid in Britain.

  • The payment we are having to pay is on top of the council tax.. like i said earlier we are paying tax by the back door again.
We have had them emptied for years paying for the privilage with our council tax, now the tories are in they now want to squeeze more cash out of us.

This extra charge for the brown bin to be emptied was introduced round here (central south) sometime ago.
In fact it was introduced here when a labour government was in power............

No extra charge here for any bins to be emptied and replacements given free of charge.

Sir Michael Caine once summed it up for me.

He said that when he was a boy he was walking down the road with his father and a Rolls Royce drove by. He said to himself when I get older I will buy myself one of them.

Nowadays, though if a rolls royce drove past someone they would just want to run their keys down the side.

This would be the Michael Caine who never ceases to denigrate this country even though he has earned millions here and not paid any taxes for years?

Camerons an idiot, we are taxed to the hilt not only through paye but other back handed ways..parking...form of tax road/tunnel tolls...form of tax...and now bedroom tax, we are soon having to pay for our brown bins to be emptied....form of tax..any which way they can the tories will grab your hard earned cash and give it to the well off as a 5% rebate.
We have a Social care network to help the poor and needy, oh and by the way OLD as well, we owe it to our elderly to help them have comfortable care not steal their savings.

There is no 'bedroom tax'. There is a 'I do not want to pay for your spare room' adjustment if you don't have enough people in your council paid accomodation.

Get over it or buy your own home.
