    from here;

So there is no problem if your MIL only has between £10k and £15k savings.

However the point is that if you can afford to pay for your own care then you should be doing so. At least that way you will have the choice of care homes as opposed to being put wherever the council chooses.

I think you mean we - taxpayers - will grab it. Where do you think Social Services money comes from? Idiot Cameron talks of there being no money tree. You clearly think there is!
Camerons an idiot, we are taxed to the hilt not only through paye but other back handed ways..parking...form of tax road/tunnel tolls...form of tax...and now bedroom tax, we are soon having to pay for our brown bins to be emptied....form of tax..any which way they can the tories will grab your hard earned cash and give it to the well off as a 5% rebate.
We have a Social care network to help the poor and needy, oh and by the way OLD as well, we owe it to our elderly to help them have comfortable care not steal their savings.

Presumably the money already stashed in your wife's ISAs is not going to be declared - so you're already planning to commit fraud.

Its not in my wifes name
I said "my wife has put some of her cash in an ISA" no mention of my wifes ISA, its in her mums name

You could always look after your MIL yourself and safeguard your inheritance if that is more important to you.

The taxes you've paid barely cover a quarter of what you've received from the state.

That entirely depends on your household income and usage of services in your lifetime.

Some of us in the top quintile of household earning are very heavy net contributors, we will subsidise others to the tune of tens of thousands of pounds a year.

Those in the bottom quintile of household earnings are very heavy net takers, they pay in only a small fraction of what they take out.

From memory, the breakeven point is around the 60th percentile of household earnings. So the bottom earning 60% leech quite significantly form the top earning 40%.

But she now needs 24hr care, because some of us have to go to work to pay our taxes.

Who other than yourself do you expect to pay for the emptying of your own bin?

She won't need to use her savings for care as she is below the threshold. However nearly all her pension will be taken to fund her care with her being left with just over £20 for personal spending.

If she is in receipt of Attendance Allowance then make sure they are notified as after 28 days she will no longer be eligible.

The payment we are having to pay is on top of the council tax.. like i said earlier we are paying tax by the back door again.
We have had them emptied for years paying for the privilage with our council tax, now the tories are in they now want to squeeze more cash out of us.
