I will think that through overnight, even though it's easy to understand and come back here to see if the Mark (the TT guy) has commented, then proceed, thanks again.

I have written down most of your post, might even have it on screen when I talk to talktalk tomorrow. Interestingly enough, they have phoned me twice in the last couple of days, telling me I'm out of contract and they tried to get me to do something about it. I refused as I wanted to brief myself again on your success, so I am in effect, one step ahead. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

PHEW! 57 mins engaged talking to talktalk. Told them I'de been a customer since Oct 2006 and was looking for a loyalty bonus.

Firstly, the TalkTalkPlus, now includes TV and they are unable to budge on that. We don't require the TV part of it, because we have Freesat which is brought via satellite and we don't have an Ariel.

    So, I have moved from:-
    Broadband.......................free
    TT Essentials.................£6.50
    Mobile saver boost............free
    Line Rental...................£14.95
    Turbo Boost.....................free
    Anytime calls UK boost.....£5.00
    £26.45

    To:-

No charge for anything for 3 months
Medium Fibre Optic installation 23rd May at £5 instead of £10
No charge for engineer (should be £30)
On Aug 1st, phone to pay 12 month line rental in advance.

From then on, my monthly charge will be:-

    TT Essentials............£6.50
    Anytime calls............£5.00
    Fibre Optic...............£5.00
    £16.50

My question now is this, is this an acceptable deal?

My bill which arrived yesterday, is for £29.26 (includes a few call charges).

If I include the reduced line rental at £9.50, it takes my monthly bill to £26.00 (theoretically).

Written like this, it doesn't look much of a saving. If you feel I could have done better, maybe you will advise please.

Ah, I wasn't aware that talk talk had stopped doing plus as a standalone package.

So if i get this right you've had a £50 bill credit to cover the first 3 months. Sounds good. And the fibre at £5pm is a great deal. Remember that even though you aren't saving much you've got fibre for less than you were paying so thats great.

I think the only thing i would say is that i was able to get them to give me a £2 recurring discount on the essentials taking it from £6.50 to £4.50. They did say to me that when you go for fibre you have to pay full price on essentials but they had offered it to me at £1.25pm (without fibre) before so i kept pushing for a discount and got the £2 off.

I don't need the anytime calls so thats how i saved a bit there.

    PHEW & PHEW AGAIN!

Out of curiosity, I worked out how much per year goes to Talktalk currently via monthly payments, it is £317.40

I then did a similar exercise at the new contract ie Essentials £6.50, Optic £5 and Anytime £5 = £16.50 x 12 months = £198.00 If I add the advanced line rental of £114.00 the total per yr is £312.00

This is a saving of £5 per yr, however it brings with it Fibre Optic.

I felt that this could be improved so several hours later I called back, only to learn that they had put me on the PLUS package and my monthly outlay would be over £30 !!!!!!!

I asked for a manager. He listened to a transcript of my earlier call and came back to say, the Essentials would be reduced to £4.50, Fibre £5 and anytime £5 total being £14.50 per month. I have to wait till after Fibre has been installed (24th May) before I can pay my rental up-front.

I have to say this has been a bit of a nightmare trip and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. If only the OCE's on the talktalk forum were able to change/set-up accounts, life would be so much easier. My only concern now is that even after all this, until it is via email in detail, I will not rest.

Sounds like a lot. But that's basically bought you inline with what i'm paying for essentials and fibre optic. What i'd do now is just get it 100% confirmed via the talk talk members forum. Make sure that the discounts are in place.

£50 credit to cover first 3 months.
    Fibre optic half price (£5)
Talk Talk essentials (£2 recurring discount)
    Installation fee of £30 waived

And don't worry, you'll receive a letter in the post with all wrong prices but just ignore that.

It's great to have made contact with you as it is your experience that spurred me on, but I really did LOL when I read about getting a letter with all the wrong prices etc.

I have been producing similar posts on the TT forum, to glean as much info as possible. When you say " What i'd do now is just get it 100% confirmed via the talk talk members forum. Make sure that the discounts are in place.", will either of the OCE's be in a position to do that ?. Don't forget we have Mark, the TT Rep on here. Couldn't he do it? Are you part of the TT forum?, on there I am islandman

OK, glad we've sorted that out. We must PM the reasoning behind our user names.

Just spent ages trying to formulate my user/password names then ended up setting new ones. The result was I have entered "My Account" for the first time in years. They haven't updated todays details in full yet, I was hoping to see individual costings asap. Will keep my laptop on, and look back in a couple of hours, see you then.

  • Hi everyone,

Like my name suggets I am VERY annoyed at TalkTalk....
I signed up through MoneySavingExpert.com when they advertised love to shop vouchers valuing £100.00 will be sent out as part of the deal - cant go wrong.......
I registered online, clicked the link to activate the voucher issue, and was advised these would be sent out in 28 days....
Nothing. I called TalkTalk - call centre in India or Manilla, so VERY difficult to understand them and for them to understand me. I informed them of this offer, to which (after being passed from one person to the next) that the offer is only £25.00. and that I was WRONG!!!
Now they have stated that they are emailing MoneySavingExpert regarding this (I pointed out that I STILL have Martin's email confirming this offer), but they were not interested. I offered to email it to them - they said they do not have an email address!!!!!! - but that I could FAX it!!! What!?!

They have booked a "call back" with me on Thursday this week, i gave them my mobile number as I am away a lot of the time, in fact I called them on 5 separate occasions to tell them this and someone from TalkTalk KEEPS calling the landline and harrasing my elderly mother, which is upsetting her.

I have spent a LOT of time on my mobile contacting them and no one can inform me what is going onh, and still the calls to the landline.

Incompetent is the only word I can use to describe them, I am annoyed that they are distressing another member of my family and ignoring my requests and calling me a liar regarding the offer that WAS available at the time of sign up. Also, the amount of time I have spent calling them to get nowhere is disgusting. With my experience of their customer services "Manager's" I cant aee them sorting this issue out and making right my awful time with them.
If a representative from TalkTalk VIEWS THIS, i WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR RESPONSE. Many thanks.
