Great talktalk deal

I've been asked this on other forums as well and trust me, i know exactly what i've got. It's £5pm for 18 months (as it's an 18 month contract for fibre) and then i have an additional £60 bill credit which makes fibre free for 12 months. (theoretically)
Now the good thing about talk talk is that you can renegotiate your contract pretty much anytime (as long as you sign up for a minimum term) so i hope to get a similar deal in 12 months time to cover the next 12 months.
Trust me, i know exactly what i'm doing to get these deals and i know exactly how to handle the talk talk retentions dept. I was originally offered the essential package for £1.25 as well but as soon as i mentioned fibre he told me it had to be standard price of £6.50 but i kept pushing and pushing and in the end he did half the price of fibre, throw in a £60 bill credt, and put on a £2 discount for the essential package so it was down to £4.50.
So yes, it looks too good to be true with the free installation as well. But it is true. Even the guy on the phone was saying that he'd gone at least £100 over the credit limit he was supposed to give customers as loyalty.
Have you got it all in writing/confirmation by email?0 -

Yes. I'm not an idiot. I got the guy to send out an email before i hung up and confirmed it with him at least 4 separate times on the phone. Plus i recorded the conversation from my end as well.
Bump this thread after the 21st next month and i'll screenshot my bill.0 -

Wow, you are probably the sharpest, cleverest money saver I have ever witnessed . You should have mentioned the fact you got email confirmation in post 7 and the post could have been way shorter.....;) I'm interested in how they have worded it, any chance of putting a copy up here (obviously without any personal details). It will be a nice reference point for others trying for the deal (a mate at work has been trying to get a good fibre deal out of them for months with no success).0 -
Millions would say the greatest Talk Talk Deal is when you leave them .

Yup,
I like getting my deals confirmed numerous times so i have a call recording, email and TT member forum thread to confrim it.
Just to clear up any confusion, the 500 global minutes was just added for a 1 month period so that a family member can make some calls abroad this month while we sort out the intl package on her mobile phone contract.MillicentBystander wrote: »Wow, you are probably the sharpest, cleverest money saver I have ever witnessed . Why do you think i joined MSE haha. There is a reason i'm paying less on my bills every month.
I have to admit that i was shocked to see them give the £60 bill credit on top of fibre. Esp fibre at £5pm. I was fully expecting to pay full price for it. (I actually planned to stay on normal BB for the next year) But the fact is i'm actually paying less now than i was a month ago and i have so much more.

You were right about your complaint about their new security process mind. There are LOADS of posts on TTMF where people have failed to follow the process correctly.
That tells me that the process is not well-formed or well-described. And I'd wager that most of the problems have related to not providing the full name in the text box, because it was also asked for in another part of the form.
But will TT accept they've made an @rse of it? Not a chance!0 -

Tell me about it. I've had no issue in the past but this week was just ridiculous. It's a stupid way of verifying customers when the form that says "enter name here" isn't actually where you put your name. How was i supposed to know i had to enter my name in the message box below twice.
It wasn't helped by the fact that i kept getting the stock reply of "you need to provide all details". I provided them twice and it took me 4 attempts for her to actually say that the form didn't accept my name as my name.....
I don't understand why she didn't just tell me this in the beginning as it seems over 50% of people have the same problem each time.0 -
On the Talktalk forum I was told about fibre optic for a fiver:-
https://sales.talktalk.co.uk/product/fibre/fiver/?portalId=FIVER
I read it up and was considering it when someone else posted that it expired in Dec 2012.
Now I have read about your successes, I think I will sort my invoice out to see exactly what I am getting and how much it costs. After all, I joined them when they started the "free broadband forever" thing, and I get free calls 24/7, mind you, they've introduced some charges they refer to as bundles. Will go and have a read.
Oh my Lord, it looks complicated. Due to a loss of service they gave me two months free line rental. I think I will show you how it is, and you can advise (please):-
Broadband......................£0.00
TalkTalk Essentials...........£6.50
Mobile Saver Boost...........£0.00
Line Rental.....................£14.95
Turbo Boost....................£0.00
Anytime UK calls Boost......£5.00
£26.45
Have no idea why they include Mobile Saver Boost or Turbo Boost and make them free, don't know what they do. (my mobile is orange).
As I see it, I would have to pay the line rental whoever I was with.
£5 to make 24/7 phone calls seems OK
Don't know what Essentials are.
Ideally I'd like a faster speed and lower monthly bill.
My Download Speed is 2.71Mbps & Upload Speed is 0.52MbpsThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

What i would do is ask them to put you on the Talk Talk Plus package. The RRP Is £15.50pm. They can do 12 months half price and then add on a £2pm discount to take the total cost to £5.75pm. The plus package eliminates the need for the UK anytime calls boost as it includes unlimited UK calls. Turbo boost is free on this package.
Then you could try and get them add fibre for £5pm but they may want to increase your Plus package price cost like they did with me. I still managed to get £2pm off the full price though.
You can pay £114 upfront for your line rental which means you are paying a theoretical £9.50pm.
Then your bill would look like this-
Broadband......................£0.00
TalkTalk Plus...................£5.75
Mobile Saver Boost...........£0.00
Line Rental.....................PAID UPFRONT (£9.50pm)
Turbo Boost....................£0.00
£5.75 (+ £114 line rental/£9.50pm)
= £15.25pm (Theoretically)
You could then try and get them to add fibre optic on top for £5pm.
But like i said they may not be able to charge £5.75, it may be higher. See if you can ask for a bill credit as well.0
