Best wishes for the next few days for you and the little one Gem. I'll be looking out for posts to see how you got on. xx

Congratulations Carol, hope you are both doing well xx

Happy birthday Keely! Hope you having a lovely day. :j ps did the bell's palsy clear up?

Elle - i can remember panicking when my morning sickness cleared up at around 11 weeks pregnant. I was so happy that I could keep my food down but found it a comfort to have some symptoms just for peice of mind. I kept touching my boobs to check that they were still tender!! I felt happier that they were. Its all a normal part of the 9 months of worry that pregnancy is!

Hope everyone else is fine xxx
  • Good luck Gem - hoping you have a reasonable labour and that midget gem hurries along to meet mummy :D :A

Ive had a flat full of kids-scared the cats lol... but having a great day although not going out as its too hot in the sun for me right now (fair skinned, red head here!).

The Bell's has almost totally gone now-my gp said id been making a good recovery and should get at least 99% recovery. Im so relieved that the steroids worked and i feel like my old self again (can properly eat and drink now without dribbling!).

My sister said ive grown since i last saw her, and that was only last thursday! i may have that final growth spurt after all! (was worried my bump was small!) :D

    How are you doing lwcus?

A decision seems to have been reached and I am going to be admitted tonight for monitoring and probably starting to induce. We are scared but I think I am feeling more glad that some kind of action is going to happen.

Send me lots of labour vibes everyone as I really don't want a c-section!

Good luck Gem :o hope all goes well, ill be thinking about you. x x

Hi all.. Thanks for your reassurances :)
Very sad, but I'm chuffed with the fact I can't do the fastenings up on my work trousers up anymore. Colleagues thought I was nuts for grinning at that when I walked in this morning. Was planning to go shopping for new trousers/jeans on Saturday so will just have to go for longer tops for the rest of the week.

Congrats Carol, Good Luck Gem and Happy Birthday Keely :D

Congrats Carol, glad you are both doing well and enjoying the cuddles!

Happy birthday Keely! Glad the dribblings stopped!

Good luck Gem , I hope it all goes well for you and you don't end up with a c-section (not had one myself so can't comment but not too keen on the idea either!).

Fritha - please send the rain my way! Am fed up today, been in the office and seen a few people I've not seen for weeks and had loads of comments about the size of my bump including "is there an elephant in there?" and "how much longer to go?" so feeling really self conscience at 23 weeks. I was overweight to start with so was never going to have a nice little cute bump but its still a bit hurtful! I guess I'm just being over-sensitive but after 5 or so comments in a row, was ready to cry or punch someone! I'm blaming the heat! Hope everyone else is well xx

This bag for the hospital. What exactly needs to be in put in it? I have every vision of being kicked out of the hospital after 2 hours, but I do know they don't provide anything for the baby at the hospital I am going to.

    Nightdress
    Dressing gown
    Maternity sanitary towels
    Babygros
    Nappy
    Formula

    What else do I need?

    Hi Pollyanna,

I put a list together yesterday. It sounds like a lot of stuff and I don't know if I'll need it all but anyway.....

Hospital packing list - we need to have this packed ready from mid November
Paperwork - Birth plan, hospital case-notes and NCT breast-feeding contact number
Clothing - Old, loose nightdress or shirt, spare nightdress/PJs, slippers, warm socks and comfortable clothes & shoes to wear home
Comfort - Water bottle, flannel, water spray, a bag of ice-cubes/ice chips in a thermos (to suck on), hot water bottle, lip balm and possibly massage oil
Breast-feeding - nursing bra, front opening nightdress/top, nipple shields, nipple cream, breast pads and baby bottle (in case I can't breast-feed and only if hospital doesn't provide it)
Shower stuff - bath towel, shampoo, hairbands & clips and shower gel
Other toiletries - toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, deodorant, cleanser, toner, moisturiser, deodorant, makeup and stretch mark cream
Entertainment - books/magazines/games, fully-charged i-pod, juice and snacks (crackers, raisins, biscuits and granola bars)
Baby clothes - stretchy babygro/sleepsuit, smarter outfit for photo, vest, cardigan, snowsuit if it's very cold, 2 pairs of socks or booties, mittens and hat
Nappy stuff - newborn disposable nappies, pack of nappy sacks, cotton wool and nappy cream
Other baby stuff - Infant car seat, receiving blanket, 2 pairs of scratch mitts, baby nail clippers/emery board and towel
Hubby - Snacks, change of clothes, book and swimming trunks if we use the birthing pool,
Small change for parking, vending machines and phone calls (if not allowed to use mobile)
Memories and contacts - Camera, fully-charged mobiles, family & friends' phone numbers, pen and paper
Other stuff - Pregnacare tablets, hand-held mirror, spare knickers, large sanitary pads and laundry bag, spare bag for anything extra bought/given whilst in hospital

    N.B.
    1. We can't use anything electrical that needs to be plugged into the mains in the hospital - only battery operated items allowed.
    2. Delivery suite is kept constantly warm so we'll need light clothes indoors even though it'll be a winter baby
    3. The hospital has two water pools for use in labour or birth, bean bags, floor mats and birthing balls
    4. They use hydrotherapy, gas and air and pethidine for pain relief
    5. Most women go home from our hospital within two to six hours after delivery

Anyone else allowed to have their partner to stay overnight with them after the birth?

I've been reading the "introduction to Maternity Services" booklet I was given about our local hospital and it says..

    "Labour / Delivery / Recovery / Postnatal - LDRP
The birth of your baby is always in the privacy of a single room. You will remain in this room for the duration of your stay. The room has en-suite facilities and a reclining chair. If your partner / support person wishes to stay with you overnight they may do so"

Apart from the cabin fever of staying in one room all the time, that sounds rather good, especially for a first timer! :) Just wondered if it's normal or unusual.
